I collect mostly Half Dollards, Quarters and Dimes.. The Pennies take up too much real estate and can feel overwhelming at times!

It's true. I'm almost 50 and have finally realized this. I've probably got 25 years left and I'm not much of a seller so my collection is going to go to my kids. Do I want them sorting through dozens of massive boxes of nothing or a few boxes of exceptional cards?

Collect dollars first, then half dollar, quarters, dime, nickel then pennies
Dollar card goes up the fastest and will be easily priced out so get it first

Go big. Make your purchases fewer and farther between. You can still accumulate more than you think. Say you buy only 5 higher caliber cards per year, that's 50 cards in 10 years - that's a lot of higher quality cards. Top to bottom, your collection will be way more impressive, easier to store and keep track of, and easier to sell when the time comes.

I’ll take a different approach. I could really care less about quality or quantity.

I collect Koufax, I keep it simple. Some cards are $500 plus and some are $10….all make me happy

I realized trying to get every high end vintage is unattainable….I don’t collect to sell or for value at all. If it goes up or down doesn’t matter to me as I’m not selling anyway.

I prefer quality over quantity.

I'm focusing more on quality HOF vintage cards. In case of a life emergency where I have to sell for money, it is easier to sell the high value vintage cards over the modern low value and junk wax era cards.

A few cards I will keep for sentimental value, regardless of how much they are worth, but the majority of my focus will be on acquiring one high value card after another.

I'm a vintage set builder but I also collect hof autos for baseball and football as my main focus but when I haven't bought anything nice for awhile I have no qualms picking up something I think looks cool or makes me laugh. Hence my four row box of stadium club hofers, hofer inserts, or other oddball things
