Bears sign PJ Walker.

Sneaky good move. He’ll fit his 140 yard, 0 TD, 1 pick games in nicely when Justin goes down with a torn ligament in week 4.

Lions = Vegas betting odds favorites to win the division in 2023.

The Bears have been in contact with Austin Ekeler, when that starting shaking free. While they do have Herbert waiting to play RB1, I think they let Monty slip because they were closing in on Ekeler.

I know the 2 teams have talked as well, and there is a hang up on the 2nd round pick that would be part of that trade. With the Bears offering the Carolina 2nd they just got (61 overall) but the Chargers wanting the Baltimore pick the Bears got in the Roquan deal (53).

Which doesn't seem like too much of a holdup to me. But I am sure there are other later round picks being talked as part of a package.

If the Bears can flip their 1st pick into Carolina's 1st this year (Top 10) their 1st next year (should be top 10), Their 2nd rounder in 2025. And trade the Panthers 2nd for Ekler PLUS get DJ Moore. Thats just crazy.
Detroit media reporting that Williams missed a team deadline to respond to its offer and was told to kick rocks. A bit cold, but Holmes is running a business for the first time in 50+ years in the Lions' front office, so I'm fine with it. Build the right culture and go from there.

Kirk has been in the North for 5 seasons now. He won the division once. Bears won it once. Packers won it 3 times.

Kirk has won exactly 1 playoff game in the past decade. If he is the mountain to climb, I am good with that!

Local radio right now with North talk.

“Lions should be favorites to win. But they brought in a guy who pulls a sled to cover for Jamal since they think those TDs are easily covered.”

I assume the fourth team is Goff? Or is it the Lions?

Which leads me to believe that they will cater even more of the offense and playbook to suite Fields style of play.

Huh? Boo said Kirk rules the division. If Goff/Lions had won it during his reign, I would have listed them as well.

I say this as one of the biggest Ekeler fans around, but the Bears interest in Ekeler doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. A 28 year old RB who has said he struggles with a full workload and needing a new contract and a QB room that targeted RBs at the 2nd lowest rate in the league last year?

I know they need good players and need a running back, but in a class as deep as this one, I think they'd be much better off finding younger guy who will be around when they're competitive.

Why say team names opposed to QB names to keep it consistent?

The Lions should be fun because Dan Campbell is fun, though they take a hit by not bringing back Jamaal. Still a lot of likable guys and should be a decent team.

The Bears should be fun because of Fields, some new weapons, and the fact that they generally still shouldn't be very good this year (which is fun to Packers fans).

The Vikings have Justin Jefferson - that's really the nicest thing I can say about them. Not a lot of players I find fun (yet) and I don't see a whole lot of upside - or downside. They just kind of exist, much like they have for all of their existence.

The Packers will be fun because Love will either show some flashes (fun for Packers fans) or not at all (fun for everyone else) and have a lot of unknown for the second time in thirty years. The young guys on offense might be kind of entertaining, too.
Does it ever make you sad that 30 years of top 5 all time QB play turned into two SB victories? Patty has two already. Do you attribute that to gross mismanagement for three decades or just bad luck?

Honestly, not at all - in the time frame that the Packers have won two, only a pair of teams have won more than two (Denver, New England) and just a handful have won twice (KC, St Louis/LA, Baltimore, TB, Pittsburgh, and NYG).

More would be great, but I've gotten to see my team win twice in my life. Winning the Super Bowl is hard!

Who is the current King? I don't live in 1985 like Bears fans.

Why is this so important to you? He said Kirk rules the North. So I used Kirk's name in reply, to show his failures in the North. Sorry if that hurt your feelings for some reason.

You mean the team that started the entire league? I forgot, which team is it that you cheer for? Add up every Super Bowl win by every team in the Division. And tell me how many of those belong to any except Chicago or Green Bay. I'll wait for you to do the math.

Its not the age, its the millage. He was only a full time starter the past 2 seasons.

0 starts in 2017, 3 starts in 2018, 8 in 2019, 10 in 2020 then all 16 in 2021 and all 17 last year. Bears haven't really had a receiving back, since Forte left. AK gives them that dimension.

But true, Fields was not targeting his backs. But he was running for his life, and I dont think they had many planned RB passes in their playbook. At least not with the RBs they had on the squad last year.

I agree with you, its better to draft than pay up. But the rumors are still out there
