That's a head scratcher. Looks like there were 100 RCs in the product, and only 9 QBs drafted last year. Seems like a no brainer to always include each of the drafted QBs each year, regardless of whether they had 2+ people in front of them on the depth chart at the time.

I just bought a 1962 Bart Starr PSA 5 that was well centered for $125 + tax and shipping. No way am I going to spend double that on a box of Donruss.

Has Dak ever had a card with his full name on it? Aside from maybe a Prestige Passport insert?

I might buy a single just for that.

Fun fact. His real name is Rayne. Dak, short for Dakota, is his middle name.

Prescott’s full name is Rayne Dakota Prescott (it is pronounced like rain). So, why does he go by Dak?

“Just from the get-go. Immediate rejection. When I started off school, they would always call me Rayne [RAINY] or Rayne [RYE-KNEE] or something — they’d (be) like, ‘This is a girl’s name,’ so I just always went by Dakota

Yeah, that's how they have his card mocked up in the article, which prompted my question. I wonder if it's a variation?

There's a little girl at my kid's school named Sam.

But Sam isn't short for "Samantha"—it's short for "Samurai".

Yep.

Preach. I've been picking up PSA 10s of of 1970s cards for my PC rather than this. No brainer for me.

If he's not in this set, any chance he is the Optic update? Has there ever been players that weren't in the Donruss base set and then added in the Optic set?

In 2020 Cam Newton was in Donruss Optic but not in Donruss.

If you want to do a little Excel legwork you can copy/paste the Donruss checklist in column A, the Optic checklist in column B, use the find/replace tool and remove all numbers 0-9 with blanks to condition your data. Then in column C use the formula =VLOOKUP(B2,A:B,1,FALSE). If it returns a name, they are in both sets. If it returns #N/A, the player is only in Optic.

Those kids were right it IS a girls name. Chuck Finley, the retired Angles pitcher, has a daughter named Rayne.

Today I learned that Dakota *isn't* a girl's name.

I’ve seen boxes opened and still no checklist. Super odd.
