1989 traded may look the same as Tiffany, but they are printed on different card stock. If you put a tiffany card in a traded set or regular in a Tiffany , then you can easily see the difference.

Default eBay user: Jennpa_7399 & The Fake 1989 Topps Traded Tiffany Ken Griffey Jr

New observation: Seller's most recent positive feedback is almost certainly a sham.

Here is the feedback:

Quote:
Received graded card back from PSA can’t wait to send this one. Thank you again. Great Seller!
And here is the problem....

the 0 feedback user leaving this has bid on 7 items, all 7 from this jennpa_7399 seller. What caught my eye is the price of the listing was $270.75, which if you click on the listing says it qualifies for Authenticity Guarantee. I thought that was odd...did a fake griffey tiffany get past the CSG graders? Nope: the problem is the listing ended April 25, just 4 days ago. There is no way that card could have been shipped to authenticator, even if was sent out right away on 4/26, authenticated, and then shipped out again, and get there in 3 days. This cannot happen.

Here is what very likely happened: it's a sham account that started outbidding once the bidding reached the Authenticity Guarantee threshold, which is now $250. Once bidding reached that, it's probable seller realized it would be a pointless waste of time since CSG would reject it, and so outbid making sure that sham account would win, and then leave the feedback.

Edit: after a discussion with ebay reps, the above feedback was removed. They said the item was still waiting for payment (yet a positive feedback was left by the buyer), confirming the seller indeed was using a sham account to win it and leave feedback for himself. Here is what seems to be the plan to dodge CSG:

-If selling at buy it now, sell below the threshold. The seller had multiple buy it now's sold for $349.99 in early to mid April, during the window the threshold price was 350.

-If selling at auction, use sham account to bid and win the item if the price crosses the threshold.

With the above scheme, the card wont be going to CSG, where they'd presumably catch it.

This is amazing. I've seen a lot of people mislabel Topps as Tiffanys, but I've never seen a counterfeit. Excellent work identifying this.

Posting the sgc graded cards here, as a warning to potential future buyers that it may not be a legitimate Tiffany card.

Now, jennpa_7399 is refusing to issue a refund and claiming “alternative intentions.” What, like not getting scammed!

Hate that this is happening, but great thread and super-interesting info re Tiffanys. eBay needs to take more measures to identify and exclude questionable sellers.

Now he wants me to change the feedback bc he claims I am violating eBay’s privacy policy. I don’t want my review to get removed, any thought if I need to change it to remove the google search language?

Seems like all of his listings have been taken down.

Also seems to be trying to snipe cards and run up the NPBs before being Thor hammered by eBay

No, Usernames are fair game according to CSRs (I regularly respond to Neutral/neg with them if it was a headache buyer for other sellers)

Don't change a thing... If he has issues, then he needs to sort that with eBay. Not your problem until eBay says it's an issue. That's how I would handle it.

and wow I am sorry to hear. It looks like ebay authentication saved someone which is super impressive to me.

Can we mass report this to ebay?

An extremely dishonest and somewhat illiterate seller. I think he meant "ulterior" not "alternative." His account needs to be shut down by ebay.

Edited to add: I count at least 14 other buyers who were defrauded.

Feedback now shows that followup has been removed by ebay. At least the original feedback is still there.

Well it’s too bad they removed the response, but at least eBay refunded me.
