So, now there will be 1000s of identical size/shape boxes originating from the same shipping address containing ONLY cards valued at over $750? This will be far more efficient for the mail thieves. Probably easier to steal a bin full of Ebay verified boxes than it is to forge realistic looking PSA slabs.

This sounds like a good idea for high value cards tbh

we have at least one frequent poster here on the boards that is believed to leave a negative if the seller charges "too much" for S&H

have to wonder how sellers will be punished for how long it takes to receive their card(s)

I don't understand how this is practical for slabbed/auto cards at $250 more (which would supposedly roll out end by mid - 2022).

We are talking about thousands of cards a day at that price point. There is no way that CSG has enough resources to process those in reasaonble time frame. People will be waiting a month for their cards to get verified.

What happens if your selling a set that is over the threshold? Are they going to repackage each card in a box? This has not been thought out very well.

A few points:

1) I am hoping this isn't required for all sellers. I know there have been some shady characters, but is this really a problem big enough for a solution of this magnitude to be necessary?
2) If yes to #1, wouldn't it just be much easier to actually develop some enforcement measures with regards to people engaging in shady behavior? Is it that much harder to say, restrict people with under 25 feedback to pay with a credit card for every transaction and not make any returns rather than jumping through all of these hoops?
3) If this happens, it will remove all of the short-term day trading / flipping going on in the hobby and/or move it all to places like COMC / mySlabs if it takes 2 weeks (or more) for a card to be received in hand. Maybe that's not a bad thing, but that is certainly how some people consume the hobby.
4) mySlabs and COMC continue to look like better and better platforms by the day on which to conduct sales with all the changes eBay is introducing. I'm still not over the forced transition to eBay Managed Payments that ties up my sales proceeds for 3 days.

So some random person is taking my card out of a top loader and putting it back in a flimsy card saver. Pass.

They should have contracted with HGA with this authentication service.

A guy with a calculator in a cubical, told the big brass at eBay that this was a good idea. So they went for it. I hate stat/calculator nerds.

Just sounds like a higher end COMC with a closed ecosystem tax shelter model. Depending where the repository is, I think this will be better for us financially.

This is my concern. I don't want another set of hands touching a raw card I bought. If it's in a magnetic I want it to stay that way.

Time to list my cards as: "Shipping Fee of $249 and you get the card for $1"

This is going to end very poorly.

• significant increase in shipping times and costs
• extra hands on all items
• makes no sense to extend to already graded cards
• will absolutely slam CSG and guaranteed to extend months on the process

If this is to be implemented, should involve:
• opting in to the service
• choice of authentication service with...
• option to slab the card
• instant positive feedback on authentication with...
• no option to return the card to the seller

I just don't see how this ends well. This world isn't perfect and we all know some deals go poorly. This fixes something that isn't as broken as they think it is.

not liking the sound of this at all been doing cards for 30 plus years and this sounds more of a headache than a good thing. like others have said i don't want someone messing with the card who is to say the authenticator doesn't switch cards. ebay is becoming a joke i get they are trying to fix things to lessen scamming but i don't think this will work to well

Fix Shill bidding?...no thanks, that hurts our bottom dollar.
Add something very few want?...yep, it helps our bottom dollar.
They don't care about us or the hobby. They care about making money!

So if I sell a 50 Lot of cards for $750, they are going to authenticate a 50 card lot?

If not can I sell a $1000 card with 4 common other cards and call it a lot? and not get it authenticated?

ughh

Ebay cant even hire good customer service reps that know their own policies, yet they are supposedly going to be able to tell us that a card is real or fake based on what exactly. This is going to be a complete disaster

Hahaha, exactly

If I understand correctly what is happening ... it's just going to drive most of us to BIN-only listings under the thresholds (no more auctions), and Myslabs/forums for the rest.

Who's going to pay for shipping from the Authentication service to the buyer? I assume eBay will just raise seller fees to cover this.

CSG is doing the authentication. You ship the card there instead of the customer.

eBay is not the one authenticating the cards

Will it at least be like GSP where buyer has to pay for the leg from CSG and ebay will cover anything damaged from CSG to buyer? Additionally better take away return window once it leaves CSG
