People hate Brady because of his athletic success and ability to elevate rosters to championship levels through his competitive fire, not for his personality.

It's the opposite with LeBron.

A lot of hate in a lot of directions in this thread. We are going to miss all of these guys when they are gone, including LeBron.

The answer would be zero. I guess any old non-athlete could sustain that durability…

If he’s able to play his current position on defense, he’ll always be one of the better playmakers on the floor and age isn’t taking that away. Scoring himself was never his main goal. I don’t think we’ll see a 40 year old Lebron on a bad team but I can see a 40 year old Lebron as a role player on a good team.
Scoring himself was never his main goal? Now I've heard everything.

So Cal Ripken was actually the greatest athlete of all time?

If he held every record... then he might be considered.

Brady holds every statistical record that matters for a quarterback besides yards which he should have by week 4 of the upcoming season. I don't think people understand the significance of one player owning ALL of the records like that. He has the most wins, touchdowns, winning percentage, super bowls, playoff wins.

And then he also owns all of those same records for the playoffs. As well as 10 Super Bowl appearances, 7 championships, 10 AFC and NFC championships, 14 conference championship appearances.

That's just absurd that one player has done all that in 20 years.

He would easily be up there, yes.

Athlete?? Let's see what he would be able to do with just an average O-line instead of the fortresses of protection he's been fortunate to have most of his career lmfao. That would make him retire real quick instead of trying to play until he's 65

He also has the cheating specter hanging over his head.

Or, as his huggers call it, gamesmanship.

More championships by himself than any team has combined since the NFL started 100 years ago.

Poor Belichick...what did he do? Old Cam Newton just isn't the same as the GOAT is he? But everyone said it was the system and the coach. He should probably retire now, Belichick that is. Not going to be fun being a perennial loser and not even make the playoffs for the of his career. He should be forced to do the walk of shame for letting Brady go. He should have retired in New England.

No one cares about a fart of air being let out of a football except Goodell when he was trying to stop the Patriots dominance and let other teams have a chance. It didn't really work too well for him though did it? He came back twice as pissed off and won 4 more super bowls lol. His stats in the second half of the Colts game were better than the first half after they swapped all of the balls out. All it did was stoke the coals in the Brady engine and burn red hot. He's one guy you don't bet against.

disagree. Brady played with a torn mcl. he also had a season ender in 2007 where he had a torn acl.

drew brees had a collapsed lung last year. alex smith had a broken leg. There are still crazy big guys who are aiming to hurt you.

Anybody who doesn't understand that toughness is one of the most important attributes of a QB obviously hasn't played the sport (Madden doesn't count).

Brady also never mocked his championship opponents like an immature child.

Watching Dirk school LeBron's sorry #@#@#@ was like watching the universe balance itself.

If we were to build the perfect quarterback versus the perfect basketball player. Quarterback would have more attributes that age well, toughness being one. Brady’s accomplishments will go down in sports lore similar to Wilt, Russell and Babe Ruth. Some careers will just never be matched. I don’t know if we’ll get another Lebron but he’s going to be known for losing the Finals more than winning it.

You state a plausibility as a certainty without explanation. 7 SB rings is still 7 SB rings in a *team* sport and there's enough in the way of statistical luck still involved in all that[*], that we need some explanation for how TB stands out above the other GOAT candidates. I'm wide open to the arguments, although the amount of rigor required to make a clear-cut case for any one of the candidates, just might not exist.

[* - Taking one SB as an example, the '14 Seahawks were one goal-line interception away from beating the Pats, and it wasn't TB doing the intercepting. Also, we don't have enough of a sample size to know, in light of TB's departure from NWE, what difference Belichick's leadership made to all that contending and winning.]

We're talking basically a Mt. Rushmore of candidates across the major sports. Who's the standout GOAT of US Presidents among the 4 Rushmore ones? How does one establish the criteria? GW didn't face the same circumstances as TJ, AL, or TR. (Besides, is BF the GOAT of American *statesmen*? Mr. 100 Dollar Bill, I think for a reason.)

It doesn't help your cause if (elsewhere) you describe LBJ's (teams') 4-6 Finals record as "pathetic." 4 titles are 4 titles, whether won in 4 championship-series appearances or 10.

Based on his explanation upon moving to MIA from CLE, his main goal is to win championships.
