Doesn't even begin to describe it. Embarrassing to himself, his team, hell, even to the A's.
It's Ohver, tani.

You ain't lying! He even had an extra months (April, May, June, almost all July) because of COVID-19 to get ready

Holy hell. It's one game, people. Control is the last thing to return following TJ surgery. Most pitchers don't return to previous levels until their second year back pitching.
He's proven that he can be very good to great at both pitching and hitting so I think he's a fascinating case to watch. He could end up being a SABRmetric dream -- neither side stats placing him in the elite but combining the two put him at the top of WAR. I don't have much into him. In fact, I just have a TC gold refractor I pulled from a pack and a lot of base rookies from packs. But I'm rooting for him because I think it would be exciting for baseball. Arthur |

A's lineup is elite. He hadn't started a game in a year and half. Zero spring training.
Meh. Baseball is hard. He clearly has a live arm, a repeatable delivery, and more upside than most young starting pitchers. That said, I really wish they'd find him a position in the field and have him learn it exclusively. His bat, wheels, and arm need to be in the lineup everyday. Angels don't have that luxury now, though, as their starting pitching is slim at best. |

I really hope he does well this season. I'm a big fan of the idea of dominate 2 way players.
When I lived in Japan in the 80's and 90's, it was amazing to see how high school pitchers were so over worked. In high school my American team played an average Japanese team. The first pitcher we faced smoked us and pitched a complete game shutout. The second game of the double header we lit up the next pitcher and the first guy was brought in. Again, he smoked us for the next 5 innings. Twelve innings in one day would have made my arm fall off. I barely got through the 7 innings I put in. |

It was pretty tough to watch. However I do feel like he does have a good demeanor about him and he will get back into some sessions and work on his control. It is ok to be a bit worried, but I bet he figures it out and is a strong 2 way talent. it might not be this season yet, but in time.

He really should've just pitched simulated games during this season and rehabilitated his arm while playing offense only this year or at least half of the year.

The above link is an analysis of his 1 inning he pitched against the A's. Its ONLY one game, but given the lower velocity, lack of control, and not a single swinging strike, I say he is on the down side, even if his prices don't reflect it immediately. |

He's honestly probably one of the worst investments in the hobby that you can make right now.
The hype is gone and he's not that young anymore. Add in the fact that on the field he looks terrible (yes I know it's early). |

Dang, y'all are really trying to scare these people into selling this guy. I guess I get it, though.
Only slugging .530 through his first 222 games, which is a red flag, 70 grade power which is a turnoff, runs like a deer so he'll likely get hurt, and that outing yesterday is really all we need to see from him as far as his pitching prospects go. Y'all some savages. |

Cannot think of a worse long term investment, considering what he was priced at when he came into the league. Should not bother pitching.
