That's the face Bochy made when he heard the Giants hired Gabe Kapler to be the new Giants manager.

So I am and have been firmly in the camp against freezing them. As well, I had another box I kept inside my house from a 92 set. Never saw hot or cold. I sold it hoping there would be no issues. Gentleman who bought it was very pleased when he broke them and no issues.

So if stored well (perhaps you can find out) shouldn't be an issue. If you want to break open and find they are bricked, heat treatment.
we are talking about a 1K item here though

I bought 2 of the limited edition version. I still have the wood boxes but not the packaging but when I opened it I remembered thinking these could easily be resealed. Cant remember what the particular issue was though. In any case, the cards were in terrible condition and mostly stuck together.

What other critical cards are there in this set other than the Ichiro?
I have always wondered that a little bit as I ponder my copies of them probably slowly bricking themselves together in a long box. I did hold a few packs that I ripped a few years ago with pretty poor results in terms of salvage-able cards. The printing plant that year really slathered on the gloss it seems. Though I also think the embossing might turn out to be a help with these.

I just looked (via COMC) at all the Rookies in it and the only non-Ichiro players who even made it to a ten year career would be: Adam Wainwright, Edwin Encarnacion, Jake Peavy, Travis Hafner. Grady Sizemore, and Milton Bradley.

Of course every set has Hall of Famers and almost-HOF players in it. I like the Mark McGwire card in this one.

The box I sold was $700.

And if they are bricked they are bricked. Heat.

Would they take it back? I opened the set and looked through the cards...I would have no way of proving that I didn't swap out the cards.

I'm leaning towards chalking this up to a $500 lesson...ugh

Ya most have damage. Typical "snowing"

Ya most cards have the embossing but quite a few didn't. But regardless of the embossing or not they were all bricked

I’ll purchase the Edwin Encarnación Hugh Quaylebaum card. Even if it’s damaged.

Take pics now and chat with the seller before making any decisions. I sold a case of 2001 Topps Hobby Football a few years back. I didnt know at the time but the entire case was bricked. I ended up taking the return after 2 full boxes were opened.

I’m sure there is precedent for this on eBay on whether it is returnable.
I’ve seen listings for high end 90s basketball wax that state no returns on opened product even if bricked so I am sure eBay customer service has seen the situation before.

If you want to return, contact eBay. If seller had experience, they would have posted a policy on opened returns (may or may not matter to eBay anyway ) good luck

I contacted the shop today and unfortunately there's not much they said they can do as it was a factory sealed set. They did say that they would reimburse me $75 bucks. So it's better than nothing.

If anyone wants a player from the set let me know and I'll see if I can find them. lol

Sorry about the cards being bricked. I just sent a PM, would be interested in Frank Thomas.

Thanks, Brandon

If bought on eBay or you used PayPal you can get a refund. It was not factory sealed. The store not being able to detect a open product is not your issue it’s theirs.
