If you're truly asking questions, it shouldn't be for sale yet.

If it's fake, a scam, or you're trying to use this section of the board to drum up interest for your sale, you deserve whatever internet beatdown comes your way. Items that are currently for sale belong elsewhere, there are sections for that sort of thing...this section is not it.

Now, if you were simply asking questions and not currently offering it for sale, that would be different.

If you want to be taken seriously then treat your listings seriously. No one is going to approach you about purchasing the piece with a serious offer if you look like a 14-year old that just discovered keyword spamming. You do realize that no one actually falls for that, right?

If you’re genuine, go do research. There are people here who would happily have helped you (and over on Net54 too) but you’re coming at it all wrong by trying to hype it, sell it and ask for info about what it is - all at the same time.

I did hours upon hours of research on the card. What I listed is what I was able to find. Again, I believe the card may be a true 1/1. But, I say in the listing that I do not know for sure. And the price is arbitrary. It's worth what someone will pay for it. Finally, I have 100% positive feedback on eBay for a reason; not disingenuous in the least. Of course I'm trying to sell the card, but telling people you don't know the source, value, etc. isn't a good selling approach. Hopefully, PSA can help authenticate or shed light on it.

this is the problem. "hours and hours" of research was completely unnecessary. 10 minutes of research and once you could not find anything, off to PSA (or another company) to confirm if it is real and exactly what it is.

instead, you boldly claim it to be a "TRUE 1/1" (with a disclaimer it actually may not be), put it up for sale for $4,500 (totally random extremely low amount for a Babe Ruth "TRUE 1/1," then when someone puts a price tag up on a card that is fake, you raise your asking price to $50,000.

yet, you still do not know what you have.

Get it graded Authentic either by PSA or SGC. Then let the Ruth collectors fight over it.

PSA isn't going to do research for you. Just sending the card to PSA won't accomplish anything. Obviously, you have little-to-no experience in researching and your instincts aren't good.

If it were me, I'd remove all eBay listings or message board listings offering the card for sale and start a polite thread on Net54 simply presenting the card and asking for help identifying it.

You have to realize, this is not going to be a fast flip. No one is going to walk up to you knowing nothing about the card and offer you thousands of dollars for it. The faster you try to turn this thing around, the more it smells like a charlatan.

I've collected boxing cards for 13 years now. I've identified and cataloged items from 1880s cabinet cards to sets from around the world that were previously unknown. I can tell you from experience, the person that makes the money is the person that does the work and properly identifies the item. If you want to sell it without doing the work you're only going to get offers from people that can make the profit after they do the work.

This wasn't difficult:

1950 BABE RUTH LOT OF 3 VINTAGE POSTCARDS

For those without Worthpoint, this lot sold for $24.99. It even came with a genuine (maybe) Tom Sasso autograph!

PSA got back with me. Said they wouldn't authenticate or grade it because it's not in any catalogs.

So then don’t list it and send it to psa. BOOM hours of “research” avoided. But yeah it’s much easier to list it as a 1/1 one of a kind when in fact you know nothing...
