26 runs scored in 3 games..... 1-2 record.

Sounds right.

Maddon couldn't manage a bullpen to save his life. Cubs could sign Kimbrel and it won't matter unless someone else is managing the bullpen. He will bring him in the 8th and have him try and get 6 outs more times than just trying to get 3.

Can't give the Braves extra outs. That first inning was brutal.

This inning has not begun in a favorable fashion.

Can we please hit the reset button on the season? This has been brutal. Lester was a bulldog tonight, but it didn't matter.

The way the Cubs have constructed their roster makes zero sense to me. Why invest so much money into the starting rotation if the bullpen is a complete dumpster fire?

Well to be fair they haven't added any new money in the rotation. They took all of that on when the bullpen was much more deep, but you're absolutely right on the dumpster fire front. What I don't understand is the complete unwillingness to spend on the bullpen now when it was clear last year it was a weakness. I love me some Bote Mcboatface, but what on earth are they doing locking up a utility infielder rather than looking for pitching help? I'm still hoping it's all early season adjustment, but it's not like these are new guys without some dubious track records here. The Cubs are still printing money on the north side and crying poverty the whole time. It's incredibly frustrating.

Edit: Forgot about the Hamels option they picked up. Valid point that could have gone to bullpen help.

If the Cubs don't figure something out...they could be 7.5 GB of the Brewers before they play have their Opening Day in Wrigley.

4 GB now... if they lose tonight and get swept by the Brewers... 7.5 GB not even 10 games into the 2019 season. I hope it doesn't happen.... but with the bullpen issues... it is very likely.

Cubs could be 7.5 GB of the Brewers 9 games into the season.

April 8th... Welcome to Wrigley Field... The Cubs 2019 Home opener... we are only 7.5 Games back of the Brewers!!!

I thought several times today how disappointing the current state of the Cubs are. I thought back to the moment they won the WS in 2016. Looked like they were not even close to their prime yet - but things have never been that good since. Maddon goes from being loved by most every fan to now it surprises nobody that this is likely his last year. The rich owners all of a sudden have no money to improve the roster. The once top 10 farm system has been depleted, and not adequately restocked - and most of the signings and moves since 2016 have been bad and have not positioned the Cubs to maximize this run.

I follow the Cubs and Brewers closely and it amazes me how quickly the Brewers built a contender and how quickly the Cubs future dynasty might end up getting shook up if this continues. Long season but hard to see the Cubs changing their fortunes if they have no money to address the bullpen. It is always more fun when the teams we root for win! I just want to see the Cubs get back to having FUN as a team like they did in 2016 (and how the Brewers are having fun as a team now). Would be a shame if we saw the peak in 2016, and if the run was over so quick.

I'll be there. Though Saturday might be a shortened stay as I'm in charge of my 9 year old niece. She's German so she's good for at least one.

I'm far too old to deal with the bleachers but fight the good fight for us all buddy. Remember when the Cubs were 0-14 to start the season in '97? See, this is better!

With Maddon being a lame duck this year, I don't think the FO will hesitate to fire him.

What exactly do they expect him to do with this personnel? There's only so much lipstick you can put on the pig.
