Id like to see Detroit again. I actually figured after the success of the Superbowl here several years ago we'd stand a solid chance of seeing it.
Surprised as hot as Atlanta has been for growth and overall rankings there hasnt been any talk of one there Florida somewhere on the coast (hey its all about a vacation, no ![]() Boston would be cool - but I'd almost bet it gets more expensive than Chicago for hotels. Indy, Charlotte NC, Cincinnati maybe? Cleveland was good this year, but also had a lot of competition for hotels. Canton HOF ceremonies, Tiger playing golf, and I think there was a very large play in the area. But I know a lot of places are ruled out if they wont or cant book 3-5 years in advance, so if they cant/wont do that, they're almost guaranteed to be ruled out before the atmosphere, food, lodging, flights, shipping factors can even be assessed.

one of the things you have to keep in mind is the people that attend these things
1) Most want to spend as little as possible on things such as lodging, quality food and showering. 2) It is true that that need at least a 500K SQF space. 3) Many of the places that have been looked at require minimum guarantees on things such as food and beverage - Again many of the people coming to show bring there own food and drinks 4) The nicer the place the more it is going to cost - For instance, they could go to McCormick Place in Chicago but i suspect it will drive the dealer prices up, will cost more to get in and the hotels are a lot more downtown then out by the airport. |

People act like the organizers can double their expenses without passing on any cost. The same people would be complaining about $40 day passes, $250 hotel rooms, etc that comes with some of the bigger destination, downtown environments.

I heard they worked some sort of deal out years ago to keep the National in Chicago. In Cleveland I know you are limited in the size of your truck or the size of the cart you use to bring stuff in and out before you are required to use union services.

From what I have read cost, location and convention center requirements are a big reason why they have the National wherever they do. A lot of the places people have mentioned would be cool, but it seems like the things mentioned above would make that very difficult to do.

I promise you they look at Dallas hard every year. With Panini, Beckett, and Leaf all headquartered in town it would be the perfect storm. Oh and Tristar is only 4 hours South. But I've talked to reps from most of these and the logistics is just not set up right. The airport is too far from any venue big enough to hold the show. The convention center downtown is big, but 20 miles from the airport. There is lodging around the airport, but again would be spread out all over the place. Some have mentioned Jerry World, but again everything is too spread out to make any sense.
I live here and would love to see the show come to town, but it's just not going to happen. I loved Baltimore a few years back. And honestly dreading Atlantic City. I had fun this year in Cleveland. Looking forward to next year in Chicago. Will be my 24th straight National!

I wish they would do it in Pittsburgh. The David l Lawrence convention center is a nice venue. Unfortunately I don't think it would be large enough 300k SQ feet on 2 floors

Anaheim. It's got plenty of space and it's a destination location with Disneyland and California Adventure here. Where is it next year?

I've seen Vegas pop up numerous times in this thread...I cringe at what it would take to drive there as there is no way I would be spending the money to ship cards/supplies/etc out there and back home.
I'll drive 10-12 hours any direction to attend, more than that and I'll skip the show. Not worth the effort it takes to get there with the necessary materials and product. |

I really can't think of any negatives with Cleveland except the internet debacle. Chicago is easier for most to fly into direct, but the venue was great...weather was nice, hotels were cheap...coming from Florida, the cooler weather was a nice break.
Orlando would also have a surplus of hotel rooms, easy to fly into, but it is a miserable place to be (like Dallas) 6 months a year...especially the first week of August. As far as I am concerned...have it in Cleveland as much as possible....the west coast/Vegas will never happen...stop even thinking about it |

Vegas won't happen because guys will spend all their money on strippers and casinos and the dealers won't make anything.

I’m not sure about other cities but I’m sure another consideration for Chicago/Cleveland is the proximity to the airport given that a lot of the autograph guests fly in and out just for the purpose of their appearance. It’s a lot easier to get them to the show when the airport is right there.

Can you imagine some drunk card collector trying to stuff an Aaron Judge rookie into the thong of a stripper? That would be funny.
