Raptors won 2 games in the 2016 EC Finals. Problem is they have lost 10 straight to the Cavs since they tied that series 2-2. He had to go. It was time for a change.

Coach Budenholzer is apparently next in line, or at least in management's eyes. Another reason apparently they made an early move, makes sense

Quite the 48 hours.
Well the coaches seeing him that way must make him feel good but I doubt he wins coach of the year. Stevens, McMillan, D'Antoni, Gentry, a few other guys had great years and under tougher circumstances.

Getting swept by the team that has your # is never a good thing. Casey is a very good coach and will have another job shortly. He decided to revamp his system and it led him to the best record in the East. But the East landscape is changing. In particular, Boston and Philly will be forces in the next few years. Toronto has to hope guys like Anunoby develop into stars or semi stars and that they can maybe move a piece like Ibaka for something better of a fit.

No surprise that he got fired, the bottom just fell out. If they didn't lose game 1 and then get swept he's probably still the coach.

Yeah as some others have said, you simply can't lose your team the way he did against the Cavs. They completely unraveled and that has to fall on the head coach.

I can see why they would get rid of him but it is still kinda mind-blowing. I bet they go out and promote Stackhouse to HC.

Yea they kind of have to. They won't find a better vet coach who will take the job. Bringing in Stack would breathe some new life. Stack is tough and defensive minded as a coach.

Is a new coach going to stop the players from freezing at the sight of Lebron?

It's a players league. You can win with a bad coach (T. Lue) and repeatedly lose in the playoffs with a good coach (Brad Stevens, Casey, Doc Rivers, D'Antoni, Quinn Snyder). There's only about 5 teams that have a chance at winning the title every year, and Toronto has never been one of them. They could make Mickey Mouse their head coach and they would do about the same.

The Raptors organization are dumb, and always have been. He’s a class coach, very few like him in the league. It’s okay though, the Raps are used to letting go of their most prized assets for nearly nothing...

Even when he's lost the last 10 against the Cavs in the playoffs and not once has he made a defensive adjustment for LeBron?

He made one adjustment, sparked a comeback and got grilled for it

Regarding Lebron, there is no adjustment. If you don’t have a pesky defensive player, which don’t grow on trees, he’s going to dictate the game. Regardless you can’t shrink on the offensive side or play sheepishly and expect a different outcome. Team reminds me of when the Hawks were on top. I think they went 0-8 vs Lebron in the playoffs. They blew it up because it wasn’t just the coach

The Cavs' blowout yesterday could support the move, especially if Raps management think they had the better roster.

Indiana and Boston giving them fits while Toronto is being swept is a definite flag against the coach (even if roster quality can be also argued)
