Ben Simmons (left elbow) is out for Saturday's game against the Magic.
He expected some soreness in his left elbow and he will be re-evaluated on Sunday.

Probably just getting a breather.

Worth keeping an eye on anyway...

But I think we will see many more of these "injuries" now with the NBA cracking down on sitting stars for rest.

Embiid got one last week. This first game Simmons missed all season I believe?

Embiid if he stays healthy (that's a big if) has best player in the league potential.

Doesn't seem to have much Mamba in him? Any player of superstar caliber would of played through that lol

Mamba mentality? I feel that the NBA has become softer every year. The mamba mentality is extinct, IMO.

I think Russ has the mamba mentality. He's a savage on the court and his motor is ALWAYS running 100%

Embiid having one of those quarters where he's unguardable. Orlando can only send double-teams and hope he passes it.

He's really looking like he could be the next Shaq, but a much better defender.

Looks like Simmons is playing tonight but it's Jonathan Simmons lol.

Yeah Russell is a beast: plays with a chip on his shoulder no matter how meaningless the games are. If Ben Simmons could have at least 20% of that capacity then look out.

Good point. Kobe did say that Russ' always reminded him of how he played the game.

In all honestly, I have watched 5-6 games all season. I work too damn much (thankfully!), lol.

I just really, really like Simmons. I think Embiid reminds me a LOT of Shaq. Not HOF, all-time great Shaq, but the attitude, the confidence, the "I'm the MAN" mentallity; I like it a lot. Prove it, though. Otherwise...you're what...not even as 'great' as Bynum.

I hope he reaches his peak, because I think it can be amazing.

I still really, really like Simmons.

I am thankful for a few lower-end rookie cards I picked up from a member a short time ago. PC, for sure.

You know what's amazing? They're on the same f'ing team.

I love and envy you, Philly.

At least we have Lauri.

Embiid is Hakeem at his max potential .. Shaq was an untalented ape (no pun intended ) compared to Joel

He does not resemble anything close to Shaq except acting a fool ha

Simmons is elite defensively, #1 ranked PG on defense according to the advanced stats. #2 in steals, #5 in assists, his FT shooting will improve for sure. He's actually nailed several 16 footers that I've seen. He doesn't need to shoot from Curry.

Shaq and Kobe situation. Once Fultz gets healthy and they sign a max player, possibly LBJ, they'll win a couple of titles.

He's gonna be first-team AS this year and already had a 46-15-7-7 game not sure what else you expect from a guy with 50 games NBA experience coming off a knee injury.

Oh, and as others have mentioned, he's an elite defender.

The Drummond comparison is hilarious, Embiid dropped 30/9 on him whereas Andre only had 14. +21 vs -11.

That's why Embiid's cards won't go the way of Drummond.

Now take out the 7 midcourt/backcourt heaves at the end of the quarter and you get 40% which is fine for a rookie who should be taking all the 2' layups he can get over an outside shot.

He's shooting 56% from 16'-3pt according to pro-basketball-reference. You don't need some multi-colored map to admit that's damn good for someone who 'can't shoot.'

The FT% is just small sample size. He shot 10% higher in college from the stripe and remember he missed all of last year. He'll get back up to that 67-70% range once he has a few more months under his belt.

Jordan couldn't shoot from outside his rookie year either. The great ones get better every year, Kobe, Lebron, et al.

Fwiw, Sixers are +12.3 better with Simmons on vs off-court per 100.

For Embiid that number is 19.4! Whoa!

Great article about these two: http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/2...en-simmons-nba

Most interesting part: "Philly's bizarro super-big starting lineup -- Simmons, J.J. Redick, Robert "Bob" Covington, Dario Saric and Joel Embiid -- is an absolute matchup nightmare. It is unconventional to the point of disruption."

"That group has outscored opponents by an absurd 29 points per 100 possessions, the best mark among all 68 five-man groups that have logged at least 50 minutes, per NBA.com."

It will be hard....

right now he's #4 offensively.

That's before Fultz and the max contract guy they get next year.
