Not surprising. Success of the first variant drove demand on the second variant through the roof. Not a huge fan of the cash grab two reprints of the same book so close together, but I do love the cover. I subbed 3 of the first one. I wasn't able to get the second one, but hopefully more than one of my subs will hit 9.8 and I can find a trader to hook me up.

I love the way the publishers are remarketing reprints from 1993's original publication date fast forwarded over 20 years later to 2016 as a "Variant" and people are still buying 'em.
I'd think those Toy Biz "Amazing Fantasy 15" comics package with the toys should also be considered Marvel "Variants" of the original Amazing Fantasy #15 1st Appearance of Spider-Man. Stupid is, as stupid does. The publisher is exploiting the customer base and collecting hobby. I wish people would stop buying these types of uninspired non-original releases so the publishers would move onto producing better quality here today and tomorrow in the future rather than the nostalgic throwback to the past. I think they're going to the well once too often. The should not call it Batman Adventures 12 for the integrity of the original release and knowing the hobby itself and collectors that support it. Just call it a "Harley Quinn Special" as the publishers used to do, so there's no product confusion out there in the future. I know they're dated 2016, but to the untrained eye, let's say a friend, family member or someone who doesn't know comics, it's easy for a seller to rip off an uneducated buyer on "Ooh, this is the 1st appearance blah blah blah" pitch, show them a price guide with the "BA 12" not disclose the 1st printing vs other "variants" and then make the sale on that assumption. |

And have you seen one of these in person? I was a little surprised at how eye appealing these covers are in person. I'd pay $30 for EM all day long. I do agree that they're riding on the success of the original to fill their pockets, but isn't everybody? Poor Harley is being exploited like no other... |

Me too, that's why I was surprised when my lady handed me the package, haha.

I have the same blemish in the three I received yesterday (YAY FOR SURPRISES!) From what I understand, CGC is calling these things "printers defects" and are taking them into account when grading, whatever that means.

I didn't get any foils this time around, but all 5 I received from the previous reprint had that exact same damage. I assumed it had to do with the cover stock.

I was hoping for a nice one but I think I kinda anticipated getting a dinged one. Maybe I'll be the first one to send one to Indy for a pressing and see how it comes out.

And the next reprint is up. No foil this time, which I like, but the Virgin is a little too pricey on the heels of NYCC. Cover art by the man himself!. Sure hope he makes it to a con near me next year.

I've started setting some of these variants out. I end up spending all my money on them and don't have money for Silver/Bronze/Copper keys. I have to learn to ignore the latest hype and keep my eye on the long game.

I'm holding strong so far! No Timm BA 12s, I passed on the Mexico JSC Champions 1, and the Frankie's Comics Ghost Riders and Dr Aphras. I've only bought the JSC RYV 3-pack (1 set) and the Dell Otto Venom 3-pack (1 set). There is a new "exclusive" variant every week and it's getting silly.

For me, its a matter of what you collect. Since part of my collection is focused on Harley Quinn, I'm a buyer if I like the cover. Would love the virgin cover, but the price makes it an easy pass.
