Nah you're good. I gave him one of each earlier this year and he did both with no issue.

Does he sign them as roberto? I've seen juan Carlos oviedo sign his old leo Nunez cards as oviedo. And bj Upton signs his old cards as Melvin now

When I gave him just a Fausto card last week, the first letter looks more like an F than an R but it's too sloppy to decipher with any certainty. I think he has different versions depending on what you give him because the two Fausto cards look VERY different. |

Last week was a marathon week by my standards, as I was able to graph 4 venues in 5 days, including 3 in one day both Saturday and Sunday. Missed my biggest target (unsurprisingly) but I'm very happy with the quality I got. Damn if it wasn’t a good week!
Wednesday: Nationals @ Indians Pregame inside & outside, and postgame. Only a few Nats took cabs and all ignored except Dusty Baker who is kids only. Tried for Harper inside and was, um, unsuccessful. Almost broke my leg after being shoved over a row of seats. Guess I didn’t want it badly enough! Austin Adams 1/1 Abraham Almonte 1/1 Mike Napoli 1/1 Carlos Santana 1/1 Jason Kipnis 2/2 Thursday/Friday: Syracuse @ Buffalo Inside (Thursday only): Chris Bostick 2/2 Matt Den Dekker 1/3 Aaron Laffey 1/1 (2014 Triple-A ASG program) Outside: Lucas Giolito 1/3 (personalized of course, but hey I don’t mind at all!) Matt Den Dekker 1/1, 1/1 Michael Taylor 2/2, 1/1 Jhonathan Solano 1/1 (2014 Triple-A ASG program) AJ Cole 1/1 Pedro Severino 1/1 Austin Voth 2/2 Brian Goodwin 1/1 Steve Lombardozzi 1/1 Bob Milacki 1/1 Scott Copeland 1/1 Aaron Loup 1/1 Syracuse inside? Woof. Syracuse outside? Not one guy has ignored or said no this season. Saturday 7/30 Started the day at Bills training camp in Rochester. First time going and it was nowhere near as crowded as I expected. However, everyone there was going for autographs after so it was kind of a free for all. I managed to come away with the following: Tyrod Taylor Karlos Williams x2 Corey Graham (team card) Preston Brown (team card) Dezmin Lewis Jerry Hughes Greg Salas (first 8x10 for me since I started doing this…I like it!) Went from there to catch the tail end of arrivals for Lehigh Valley @ Rochester. Missed a bunch of guys who got there earlier (and Crawford managed to slip in while no one was looking) but got: Nick Williams 2/3 Andrew Knapp 1/1 Darin Ruf 1/1 Came back to Buffalo and did postgame again. I had nothing left but 3 Giolito cards and didn’t realize Joe Ross had joined the team that night. Still came away with another Giolito!! Sunday 7/31 Kicked off the morning in Rochester again, where I was the only one waiting for IronPigs. David Buchanan 1/3 JP Crawford 1/2 Really happy to add Crawford! I don’t think I’ve ever seen a guy look more disgusted to sign though. Also got rejected 1-on-1 by Luis Garcia lol. I didn’t stick around for the rest of the team after Crawford – made the short drive for another round of training camp fun. Very hectic again but got: Cordy Glenn Charles Clay Robert Woods Cardale Jones (another 8x10, ran with a streaky black sharpie...) Sammy Watkins From there, made it back to Buffalo in time for postgame with almost nothing left for either team. Giolito was kids only but still got Joe Ross 2/2! I am tired. Here are some photos. Thanks for reading! Last edited by bluemoose; 02-05-2017 at 05:09 PM. |

You got rejected by Garcia? He's the nicest guy in the world. He used to be my pitching coach, I know him personally. He's been going through some really tough things in his personal life (I wont go over them). That might be affecting his mood

Made the drive out to Rochester once again last night to try for the newly signed Reggie Bush at the first night practice of the year, thinking it was a sure thing he'd sign a ton during his first encounter with the fans. Reggie did not sign. In fact, it was mostly lineman signing with the exception of guys like Ronald Darby who I had no intention of chasing and giving up my spot on the railing, and Lesean McCoy, who was kids only. I would've come away empty-handed if not for...
Former MVP and all-around good guy LaDainian Tomlinson. Talk about your unexpected successes! LT was covering Bills camp for NFL Network and was gracious enough to sign for a good 10 minutes. Luckily I had something on hand to get him on or it would've been a loooong drive home. Moved on to do postgame for Pawsox @ Rochester Yup, that's it. Happy to finally get Johnson, who has been very tough in Buffalo this season. Didn't have anything on me for the rehabbing Trevor Plouffe, who signed what looked like a ton. Last night was another lesson in always bringing extra stuff lol |

That's an awesome success with LT, talk about saving the day! Sometimes you just get lucky; right place, right time.

8/10 Indianapolis @ Buffalo
Austin Meadows 4/4 Josh Bell 4/4, 1/1 (help) Justin Masterson 3/3 Trevor Williams 1/1 Drew Hutchison 1/1 Butch Wynegar 1/1 Wilkin Castillo 1/1 Dalton Pompey 1/1 Erik Kratz 1/1 Meadows was exactly as advertised. Incredible signer. Justin Masterson is also a fantastic guy. What really surprised me was how cool Josh Bell was. Here’s hoping he has a long, successful big league career. For those wondering about his signing tendencies, Hansen apparently signed the first night postgame and rejected or ignored the rest of the series. 8/13 Pawtucket @ Buffalo Game got rained out, and only Jantzen Witte made an appearance out of the dugout during the delay. It was also Seinfeld night so I waited in the most absurdly slow-moving line during the delay to get an autograph from the actor who played the Soup Nazi, who inscribed "No soup for you!" on everything. Unfortunately, the photos provided were on regular printer paper But hey, still pretty cool. After the announcement that the game would be postponed, I briefly stood in the rain outside to do "postgame" while my umbrella got thoroughly mangled by the wind. The Bisons don’t let you near the visitor’s bus and no one was going to walk 100 feet out of their way and back in the rain so I changed course and hit up the hotel. Managed to get my top target and two other solid names (and just as importantly stayed dry under an overhang). Very happy to add Young to the collection! Much respect to the other two for taking the time as well. Lastly, an unexpected TTM success today: Attachment 343044 Brian Elliott, c/o St. Louis Blues (postmarked from Milwaukee). Must've sent this 6 months ago or so because I haven't mailed anything recently and totally forgot about it. I didn't ask for the inscription but I absolutely love it - if my username isn't a giveaway, it has added significance to me. Thanks for stopping by. Cleveland tomorrow for the Trout circus... Thanks. It takes about 2 hrs 45 mins. Today was my third time there this season and I'm pretty sure I'll be making one more trip. The more I see of Progressive Field the more I like it.

Almost didn't drag myself out of bed for the rainy early morning drive to Cleveland today but boy am I glad I did. Here's the recap.
Had no intention of hitting the Angels hotel but I happened to see just one guy waiting on my way to the ballpark, so I figured the opportunity was too good to pass up and stuck around. Another 8-10 people joined us once the bus arrived but not before Scioscia and Ricky Nolasco each signed. After that, guys came out quickly and in groups, and the only one who stopped was Matt Shoemaker. Of course, the majority of the relatively small group of graphers had stuff for only one guy, and that guy still had not appeared by 2.5 hours to first pitch. Finally he emerged and proceeded to sign for two kids and two teenagers who ran after him out of the hotel before getting on the bus. Oh well. And here's a great example of an "it ain't over til it's over" moment. I and three other guys stuck around to desperately stare at the dark bus windows until it left. My new buddy, who was the first one at the hotel in the AM, had a sign saying something along the lines of "Mike could you please sign, yesterday was my birthday" and was waving it at the bus for a few minutes before we spotted the outline of someone at the front of the bus that appeared to be pointing at the sign and (in my view) me. Shortly after, the team security guy hopped off the bus and asked for my buddy's ID and also reached out to take his ball and my card to bring back on the bus. Yup - Mike Trout actually checked a guy's drivers license to see if his sign was legit. Turns out he got a kick out of the sign, according to the security guy. I'm still not sure why he pointed at me too. I guess appreciated my shirsey? Anyway, here's the big prize At this point the two of us are AMPED and decide to keep it going by buying wristbands for the season ticket holder postgame autograph session from a Craigslist seller who was at the park. Things were going pretty well. I got Tyler Skaggs post-bullpen workout ("Tyler Skaggs, I saw you on Car Matchmaker" Skaggs: *unenthusiastic thumbs up as if to say "cool story bro"*). Then of course the lousy weather pushed first pitch back from 1 to 2:45, which was enough to result in the STH event being postponed to a date TBD. Boooooo. It seems another trip to Ohio is coming in the next month or so. Postgame at the Indians lot was pretty solid. Salazar got everyone who waited for him 2 hours after the game ended. Naquin is a fantastic signer. Lindor, who did not sign on the field, did a bunch and not 100% kids only. Notably, at one point he said something along the lines of "it's funny, you've all been calling my name but not once did I hear 'please' or even 'thank you.'" Just goes to show that being polite is always a good approach - in any situation. Speaking of ballplayers who value politeness, for those interested, it seems Trevor Bauer signs after each of his starts. Here's the non-Trout stuff I got done: Also, RIP my sharpie, which I've been using exclusively since I ramped up my graphing activity in October. I must have lost it sometime between Trout and Skaggs and the replacement is obviously worse. I was very distraught but I guess it's cool that its final auto was Mike Trout. RIP sharpie. |

Quick results from just postgame tonight after Rochester @ Buffalo
It started pouring just as players started leaving, which led to one of the highlights of the graphing season in Buffalo so far - Byron Buxton getting stuck under an overhang with us. He did one per at first, then after reality set in with the rain he basically finished everything (should've made an LCS run one day sooner...oops) and took a bunch of pictures before eventually making a break for it. Should make for a nice story if/when he figures it out in the bigs. |

First, some stuff leftover from last week.
Got Brady Aiken 2/2 and Quinones 1/1 in Batavia, where Mahoning Valley was playing. Had nothing for Hillman, White, etc. but happy to get a top 100 prospect and check out a new venue. Tried the New York Football Giants Friday night in Buffalo and basically struck out. The NFL is tough, man. Moving on to the good stuff... I’d been meaning to do an extended weekend trip to Pittsburgh for quite a while and it finally happened. At the risk of restating what alexkwong22 has already said, here’s what went down. Saturday 8/20 – Marlins @ Pirates Pregame outside: Christian Yelich 2/2 Pregame inside: NOTHING Postgame: Adeiny Hechavarria 3/3, Jared Hughes 1/1, David Freese 1/1, Miguel Rojas 1/1 (team card) Sunday 8/21 – Marlins @ Pirates Pregame outside: Don Mattingly 1/2, Dustin McGowan 1/1 (team card) Pregame inside: Jameson Taillon 1/1, Dee Gordon 1/1 Postgame: Ivan Nova 1/1 Miami is tough. I was very happy to add Donnie Baseball to my collection, as a lifelong NYY fan. Getting some Pirates, especially Taillon (who I never saw in AAA), helped salvage the first half of the trip. Monday 8/22 – Astros @ Pirates Stuck around Monday for Houston with greatly lowered expectations…just in time for the best day I will likely ever have doing MLB. Results from pregame inside/outside and postgame. Pat Neshek x1 Will Harris x2 Mike Fiers x1 Brad Peacock x1 Michael Feliz x1 Teoscar Hernandez x1 Chris Devenski x1 team card (fantastic auto and super nice guy) Steve Sparks x2 Alex Bregman x1 (won’t sign outside the park but kept his word and signed like a champ inside) Collin McHugh x1 Jose Altuve x2 Carlos Correa x2 (used someone else’s lousy sharpie on the one I got inside so the sig barely visible...but it's there! AJ Reed x3 Ken Giles x2 Doug Fister x1 Jake Marisnick x2 Marwin Gonzalez x1 Still beyond psyched about how this day went down, especially postgame. Fister and Giles were super cool and chatting a little bit about the game. Altuve was great and Correa was super personable, signing balls on the go and flipping them up over his head (playfully, not in a slam-down-your-sharpie-after-signing kind of way) to the people who had handed them to him. I have never seen anything like it. Smiles and giddiness all around. Phenomenal experience. Tuesday 8/22 – pregame outside only Marwin Gonzalez x1 Jake Marisnick x1 Luke Gregerson x1 Jason Castro x1 George Springer x1 Yunieski Gurriel x1 ROMLB (BP ball) Couple of interesting things from yesterday: 1. With Springer, Castro, and Gurriel signing, I managed to get everyone who played for the Stros in Monday’s game. Never came close to doing that before at this level. Ended up with 20/25 for the roster overall. 2 of the remaining 5 (Musgrove and Kemp) signed for everyone who asked on multiple occasions. The only guys who hadn't touched a pen as of when I left yesterday afternoon were Keuchel, Gattis, and Tony Sipp, and at least two of those three ended up signing later. Houston is an excellent signing team, with a lot of genuinely nice guys willing to take the time to interact with fans. They made a fan out of me for sure. 2. Overheard Pat Neshek talking about Zach Greinke rejecting him for an auto 1 on 1. I thought that was hilarious. 3. Paul Simon was at the same hotel as the Astros on Tuesday. Was not able to get a picture with him, but it was very cool to see Mr. Simon in person. However, there was some pretty embarrassing behavior on display from a small subset of the baseball graphers who pursued him. I won't go into specifics here but it was very disrespectful and hard to watch. Anyway, many thanks to Houston (and Pittsburgh) for one of the best baseball trips I'll ever take. Thanks everyone. And yeah, Neshek is a great guy with some interesting stories (and it's nice to know that even big leaguers have been told no doing this...)
