This is widespread, all around the world and around all industries, who have direct lines of communications with the experts who can provide the most up to date and in depth information possible.

I think they all should be crushed for it, if they were really selling off stocks in companies that would be hit the hardest with this based on classified information they were getting before the public, they all deserve to be fined and jailed.

It's one thing to be doing insider trading when you're an executive of a company and have access to the information, it's something entirely different when you do it as a publicly elected official that puts you in a place to have the information.

Burr already retiring in 2022, he'll stick it out. The other NC senator is up this year so that's the only reason he put out a mildly critical statement on Burr. Loeffler has a really primary fight on her hands so she could be in trouble on that front. Johnson and Feinstein seem to be more in the clear.

So why do you not seem that angry with Trump and doing things like getting rid of the pandemic response team that Obama had set up? Or even just not taking this seriously until a week or two ago? (and don't talk about how he shut down travel from China, as just doing that wasn't him planning and preparing for this)

That team would have been working on these plans exclusively since December when the virus first started making waves in China.

They quit.

They chose to act on their political preferences and quit rather than remain at their posts keeping the nation safe. Other members of the National Security Committee took up their slack.

Trump has nothing to do with this. He's letting the CDC and state governors run the show. And I like that; State leadership should be taking care of their own populations. Federal government backs them up. How it's supposed to work!

I just don't like that each state is deciding to close.

How was it obvious when China hide numbers? The entire world is being affected by what China did. China kept their #@#@#@#@ under wraps, like it does everything, and Italy, Iran, all of Europe, USA, and other nations are going to get hit because this virus is so large/widespread.

If we would have started testing a month ago, we would have had cases blowing up similar to today. This thing was here already. You are not seeing the velocity of the spreading with these tests, but rather the existing people that already had it. It's just not as big as you want it to be.

Extremely sad what we have done here. History will be very unkind when they look back.

I'm not sure about that. It might slow down, but we are going to remain on lockdown until this goes into late June/early August IMO. I'm still beside myself that in a week so much has changed.
Two weeks ago I was going to the gym, going out and about without a worry and living in my bedroom.
Now I'm housing between a family room and an old trailer, no gym, no work, no going out, no human contact under 4 feet and it's weird as ^&(*.

When I see young people conversing a foot away I want to say step back and recognize we are under lock down and you're taking steps to make this process longer. Hopefully they realize.

Obama eliminated the White House Health and Security Office, which worked on international health issues in 2014. After the ebola hit big in 2016, he established a Directorate for Global Health Security and Biodefense at the NSC. When Trump came in he left the office in place for the first year then when certain issues were not being communicated with other offices and the organization was all messed up, he rolled that office into the dept handling bioweapons to better prepare for biological threats whether they are man-made or naturally occurring.

How long has China been on lock down? Basically forever? The point of doing all of this was to extend the curve so that we don't hit a dramatic high; if you have a lower low you have to be able to keep it low. If we undo everything we just did, what is the point? There'd be none.

I purchased rounds for my shotgun, 22 and magnum today. It'll be here Wednesday and withdrew my cash last Friday. I'm ready to go if need be, but I'm obviously hoping it doesn't go to #@#@#@#@.
