I was just listing it to see if i catch someone HAVING to have one and wanting to overpay but if /150 PSA10s are at 2500-3000 i may roll it up

Man this is crazy i havent ever held cards that spike like this. I love me some tatis but i have some anxiety having 10K in cards of a 22yr old who has his entire career ahead of him before he cements his name in greatness.
Yeah mine is the $3K obo. I agree that its risky holding large Tatis collection but really depends on when you got in. If buying all your Tatis cards in the last 3 weeks you're banking on him being an all time great. If you got in 2019 youre in a great spot where he can drop 50-60% and youre still sitting pretty.

Does anyone know if any Tatis cards are being upcharged from bulk (excluding #'d parallels). Chrome/Chrome Refractor? Prism?

I have quite a few sitting at PSA and another 40+ I need to send out.

The getting in early is key. Actually paying the premium upon release in 2019. $400 Sapphires and $500 blacks, $150 vintage stocks etc. Thought those were outrageous prices then. Glad I ponied up...

Honestly anyone that started buying any form of Tatis in April, May, June of 2020 is sitting pretty.

Damn, hell of a catch by Adell to stop Tatis from getting a double.

Best thing from last night that makes you hopeful for Tatis being great for his entire career was that bases loaded walk at the end of the game. Wanted to be guy with the big hit, but didnt chase took the walk pushed a run in then led to a grandslam that inning.

Really mature approach for 21yrs old. Good stuff

I think it's becoming common knowledge that most BGS 9.5s once resided in a PSA 9 slab and that's why you're seeing such a huge disparity in price. True Gems would be a different story but they're becoming few and far between. BGS's bread & butter these days seems to be the BGS 9.5 w/ a 9 subgrade, which was what kept it out of the PSA 10 slab.

I'm going to have to disagree with you here. BGS slabs are cake to crack open and they come apart cleanly with very little risk of damage to the card. The PSA lighthouse slab is an absolute beast that cannot be separated simply by popping the seals, like you can do with SGC and BGS. If you try to do that with the lighthouse slab it splinters into a hundred pieces and there's high risk of damage to the card.

The only safe way to crack a lighthouse slab is to cut the sides and top off with a mitre saw or air tool and then gently pry the the remaining apart. You cannot crack a PSA slab without destroying it. You can crack both BGS and SGC slabs so that two completely intact pieces remain -- a front and a back.

Just counted my smallish hoard of 2017 Bowman Draft.

15+/- Refractors all gem
80 Chrome
75 Paper
One purple PSA 10 refractor.

Sold off my PSA 10 and PSA 9 refractors.

Should I be grading the best of the chrome?

Kinda happy that Tatis is “slumping” right now. Just needs to have a solid couple of weeks to end the season to lock up MVP. Start strong, finish strong, and play well above average in between.

There are also plenty of PSA 10s that look worse than BGS 9.5s. Goes both ways. I have a hard time dealing with either compancy due to their scummy-ness and lack of consistency.

Sometimes, but not nearly as often. I assume that is for friends because it sure as hell has been the opposite for me.

meant better protection for the card in a BGS due to the sleeve.. im a fan of the sleeves opposed to PSA..
also think BGS can tighten their grading and 9.5's might be good value now compared to the future but yea w/
that said subgrades matter a lot for BGS

Wowsers, you started from the bottom? Ballsy.

I'm with you on this, though. They're pretty easy to crack. I use pliers (to snap off a corner - at the top) and a flathead. Less than a minute, never even came close to damaging a card.

But I think Arthur was saying with bgs, you can pull both sides apart clean, leaving them intact. That I have not done, lol. I still snip the corner and pry with a flathead, whether it's BGS, PSA, or whatever else.

Yeah but you had to come up with some pretty crazy blueprints to do it.

I was referring more to the BGS 9.5 with 9 subs. I do not crack PSA, but I have cracked many BGS and it is very easy.
