Is the current market for current super star players ever going to get better?

Regardless it is super easy to root for Acuna as he is fun to watch!
Not in the near future...it will take some time for prices to elevate...so it's a long term hold for lower end stuff (even most high end) if the hope is for prices to get back to covid levels. People just are more careful with their spending right now. We didn't see covid coming either though...so some other future "event" may spur mass spending by people.

Agreed, but to say it isn't a discussion is foolish.

In my opinion Betts fielding is a differentiator.

However, I think the disturbance Acuna causes on the bases is a bigger differentiator.

I am just saying those two along with Freeman and Olson are having amazing years, and as a result Acuna is not running away with the MVP right now. HR 40 did help.

I am a baseball fan. Acuna and Betts are amazing players. I just am not a fan of close minded people that won't listen to reason and just say discussion closed.

Vegas says the discussion is closed.

Avg .335 to .309. That isn't close? Nowhere close
Hits + Walks Acuna 285 to Betts 260

Betts has two more extra base hits, so I guess Acuna is nowhere close.

OPS 1.006 to 1.001 (Acuna owns Betts?)
Slug .592 to .592 (Again Acuna crushing)

fielding Shortstop, 2nd and OF is because he sucks at fielding and they cannot find a place for him?

Try to have logic when you make a comment.

Of course you throw out WAR. Betts is leading that one so throw it out.
No, you throw out WAR because those that created it tell you that a a couple tenths does not mean that the leader is actually having the better season, and shouldn't be used as a precise measurement. You saying Mookie is having a better season because he leads WAR 7.9 to 7.8 (or whatever the numbers are) is you using it wrong

If everyone knows Ronald is the MVP, there's no discussion to have.

Try the other thread if you want to have MVP discussion...doing it in a player thread won't get very far.

I am not saying that. I am just saying it is another measurement.

Acuna leads all of baseball in Caught Stealing. Does that make him better too. Just be sensible.

Take all the other numbers and add fielding please. It is a close race. You know they play defense more than they have plate appearances.

Acuna also has 1 more error than Betts. Acuna wins everything. Errors, Caught stealing (Betts has zero errors in RF and has 2 less assists 10-8 in 45 less games.) Perennial gold glove (6 times) defense is something.

I don't think anyone would dispute the following: Mookie Betts has had an absolutely incredible season, deserving of MVP in nearly any other post-peak-PED season. Same for Freddie and Olson. It's just that THIS is that season that is the exception. I get it though. Mookie Betts has been absolutely incredible. Acuna has been a bit better and has a more easily digestible narrative.

My last comment on this. Those 6 gold gloves mean absolutely nothing in regards to the 2023 NL MVP.

Now, take your Mookie talk to the MVP or Mookie Betts thread

I maintain (for roughly the 382nd time on these boards) that this is the most aesthetically pleasing baseball card of the modern/post-modern era.

Put your money where your mouth is. I also think Acuna will win, but not confident enough to bet it. You guys are so sure, you should be betting the house on it.

He is poised to win another. But fielding doesn't count, because it ruins your argument.

This is well thought out and reasonable. You must be on the wrong forum.

I just hate stupid and couldn't leave it alone. "Not a discussion" - Not close when they are close. Who cares about fielding?
