Taylor's Rivera is hands down the best interpretation yet.

I see nonsense like that all the time.

I've been tempted to offer $1 on listings like these.

I sometimes like days that I don't need to buy either card, 0-2 today. Sounds like I did get my Cartoon companion delivered this afternoon. Looking forward to checking it out when I get home.

Taylor's is just great and I just noticed the 42 in white, this is the second-best Rivera and will look great next to Beck's.

I'm just on the fence about Hamburger Cape. I was all in on the original hamburger card so may need to do this one too. Also on the fence about skater ichiro but that one is fun enough. DECISIONS DECISIONS.

(for me it's not about the $35, it's the intent around the decision to buy what I like and pretending my decision matters to anyone but me)

The Rivera is my least favorite original card in the P2020 set. I'm just not into adding Taylor's to my 40 card display. I think the seizure inducing colors would just be too distracting from the other cards. Not that I don't like it, it just wouldn't fit in for me. I like the Beck and Blake (fanny and all!) Rivera cards the best, so far.

Default From The Colonel's Adjutant

This is The Colonel's Adjutant. We're setting up in the NW portion of Romania near the Hungarian border for a five day shoot and are basically in what the Colonel calls "BF, Idaho".

He just "closed the polling" as he awaits the DP setting the lights. I guess that means he took a poll of himself?

He says the winner of The August Best Post of the Month is ---

He hasn't had time to see a lot of posts but that post made him laugh which is hard to do in Idaho.

Blake's would be my #2. I agree that Rivera is the weakest card in the set but I will still pick up as needed for my artist runs, including Taylor's.

I'm interested in your perspective towards your decision. It's really an interesting community we've got here. I'm not an Oldmanalan lover or hater, but some of his cards are interesting and others are boring, and he adds a unique twist to the project. Still not loving the Mays, but it's an Oldmanalan card all the way, and I don't think we'll see anything like it the rest of the way.

We may differ in that for me it is about the $35 only in that if I get too many of them it turns into $350, then $3500. Suppose you budget to buy 50 cards. Do you get the one you kind of like or hope there's one you like more later?

Hopefully no one here is spending more than they can afford.

Oldmanalan showed a lot of guts in selecting that pic. Someone may have pointed this out already, but is that the same outfield fence that Willie is standing in front of in the 1952 card?

When I first saw it, I didn't like it much since the top of the card looks slightly out of balance. The team name is a little too Groteskly large. I expect perfection from Oldmanalan at this point.

Is that a fence? I thought it was the dugout.

It looks like a Gypsy Queen insert card. Is that good or bad? Guess that's up to the consumer.

Who knows? More Oldmanalan magic. The website selling the pic calls it the wall, and makes it sound like he's catching fly balls in the outfield. https://www.alamy.com/phoenix-az-mar...331993731.html

But, I have no idea.

AGREE with that. And thanks for saying you're interested. I am very comfortable and am averaging 3 cards a week.

I'll probably do this till the end then sell off what doesn't make sense for, ideally, 40-60 cards total that I'll enjoy with my family (wife thinks this stuff is great). It has taken away from my other purchases (or made me more willing to wait until the cards hit COMC) and has definitely taken my attention away from other crap I usually chase. This is way more fun and the other stuff I chase, will always be available.

I only ever bought 2 copies of #100 and the Beck. Sold the extras already. Then when Topps sent me extras, they went into my kids' collection. For me this is truly about buying what I like, being happy when I like what ends up a low-PR card, and really not giving a rats butt about secondary market pricing. It's been really fun to have that value dynamic in the set, but it honestly doesn't matter to me, except that of course like all of us, when a value increases, we inadvertently start to like it more and it's hard to separate liking it because it looks great and liking it because it's valuable. But so far, I just like building little player/artist pairings and have more than I need.

The only thing I don't like about the Mays card is that it is a spring training photo. I hate when Topps uses spring training photos in regular release. But in this case, the photo is so playful that I don't care. It's better than any action shot of Mays on any original card, and he looks like he is "playing" baseball which I really like. There's something I don't like about the original photo, which may also be why...

Winner! Welcome to the OMA cult. Now please turn around so that you can get the official Oldmanalan logo branded behind your ear. Don't worry, it doesn't hurt, and there are counselors on call in case you ever start talking about how spending $200 on his Mariano Rivera card sounds totally reasonable.
