That is largely a locker room issue. And old man opinions.

The casual wrestling fan, and really most of the fans, do not care about talent coming through the indies or paying dues.

I just think Mania would seem more interesting to me if Punk won the Rumble and was wrestling Cody, and you could have had Cena win the Chamber and challenge Gunther. The Cena heel turn has been awful so far IMO. Then Reigns/Rollins one on one.

No, the IWC didn't like the Miz because they found him annoying and his match quality.

He had probably one of the five worst Wrestlemania main event matches of all-time (Though I enjoyed his win) with Cena at 27.

You cannot reasonably believe that let's just say 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 that Miz had even average in-ring skills. It wasn't till the mid-late 2010s you could say that. Again, this is coming from a huge Miz fan but you've shown your bias time after time. You just don't like Jey. It's much easier to say "I can't be objective because I don't like this guy".

I dont think it's been 'awful' per se. I believe WWE underestimated the fans' desire to want more after Elimination Chamber. More of Cena explaining himself, more promos between him and Cody, The Rock showing up at all between then and now, etc...

I'm expecting Cody vs Cena to be a 1+ hour drama essentially since they have to close the chapter with Cena allegedly retiring. But then again, it would be nuts if Cena actually retires after a loss as a heel.

The amount of Wrestler's that support Trump is probably quite large. Also, the guy running the show does. Who actually cares?

Probably not a bad move. I was at the 2024 RR and Jey was #1. It’s a good way to get the crowd into it from the start.

Gotta start the weekend off with a "banger", if you're not last you wanna be first...

The only other match that could've gone first is Stratton vs. Flair.

It'll be very interesting to see how the Topps Chrome prices pop once the Gunther/Uso and Stratton/Flair matches are done...

Night One match card (April 19, 7 p.m. ET, Peacock):

Triple-threat match: Seth Rollins vs. Roman Reigns vs CM Punk
World Heavyweight Championship: Gunther (c) vs. Jey Uso
WWE Women's Championship: Tiffany Stratton (c) vs. Charlotte Flair
World Tag Team Championship: War Raiders (c) vs. The New Day
United States Championship: LA Knight (c) vs. Jacob Fatu
Rey Mysterio vs. El Grande Americano
Jade Cargill vs. Naomi

I'm a HUGE Miz fan mostly because I love watching the Challenge and always liked him from there. I couldn't agree more with this though. When he first started with the WWE his mic skills were awful, he couldn't remember any lines, he fumbled his words a lot, he drifted in and out of character and his ring skills were VERY green. Even when he first starting tagging with Morrison his in ring skills were a bit rough (even though they were a great tag team). To your other point, Miz himself even says that he knows his personality is very annoying and a lot of people find it off putting so he's always had to earn respect from his work ethic and being willing to be a company man through and through.

It took him a long time to get to where he's at now (which honestly is probably just good in ring skills, he knows how to work with what he's got but he'll never put on a 5* banger) but I couldn't respect him more after hearing about all he put up with and how much people wanted him to fail but he just kept working to get better and find his place until he finally became the #1 most must see superstar!

Yeah figured they'd go that route. Fine by me, get it out of the way early, since the match isnt going to be great. Gunther will do what he can though.

Or we could be real about the reason they are putting it first. You don't put expected bad matches first to "get them out of the way." You bury them in the middle.

The reason it's kicking off WM is because nobody else in the company is going to get the crowd pumped and excited like Jey can. And save me the "it's just the word, it doesn't matter who the wrestler is" BS.

He is the biggest thing they could ever ask for

Or you could just realize it was my opinion as to why I was fine with it being first. You know my opinion that its going to be a borefest. Go ahead and enjoy the first couple minutes of Jey's entrance and Yeet your little heart out man, because after that the bell rings and Jey becomes absolutely awful to watch. Superkick on repeat and then a spear and a splash mixed in somewhere. Gunther is going to be leading him around in that match by the nose, and anyone who thinks otherwise is a fool.

So start of a Melo push it seems. Guessing Miz starts helping Melo win matches but Melo does not help Miz win matches Miz gets jealous he turns at Melo at some point and get a short feud between the two before Melo moves on to the US title and probably beats LA Knight later this year.

I can't wait for Jey to win and see all the haters cry even more.

I'll give you my opinion. The reason they had to run the same underdog story they used for Sami with Jey is because Gunther isn't capable of running any other story. His entire schtick is "I'm a better pure wrestler than anyone else" and there's nothing else to him.

Let's not forget that Gunther is going to counteract Jey's superkicks on repeat with his own classic chest slaps on repeat, with powerbomb and a sleeper mixed in.
