I had the same issue with my Donruss Elite /299 rookie of Zion. It looked absolutely perfect and it got a PSA 9. Oh well, still keeping it.

Yep, I’m definitely holding this one as well! I don’t see serial #’d Zion rookies dropping in price any time soon.

Mad at myself for selling the Zion Elite /299 in an HGA vs BGS/PSA experiment. Still crazy the HGA 9.5 sold for nearly a PSA 10. But I'd like it back now...

I'm working on my first big Zion deal. What do you guys think of this card raw? I haven't seen it yet, but the guy says its in mint condition. I will probably meet up with him this week. Asking $1500. I cant find any comps.

Nice card, but I believe that's a sticker auto and Origins rpa's just aren't very well regarded and don't hold value like many of their counterparts.


For a little bit more, I'd be looking at a 2 color One and One base vertical rpa.

There's a myriad of better on-card options if you're willing to bypass the event-worn memorabilia.

I agree. I would look at a Select silver BGS 9.5 or PSA 9 around the price point of $~1500.

I would highly stay away from less desirable brands like Origins. Stick with brands with a high reputation. You may have to pay more, but there will be buyers when it's time to sell...not like crap brands like Origins, Mosaic, etc.

I don't think that Origins card is a bad pick-up. Personally, I'm loading up on Select and Revolutions. Revolutions feels a little riskier, but for Zion specifically the image on the card and relative low pop counts sold me. Select is basically my pick out of the prizm/select/optic trifecta at the top of the market. And I have been buying all 3 levels in various grades

all it's going to take is a couple people with big channels talking about how he's relatively undervalued when compared to Luka / Trae / Ja etc. so far all the channels I tap into are still digging their heels in on why Ja is undervalued or whatever. At the same time, I don't think prices really climb a lot from where they are now, but with the entire market cooling down, to stay even or slightly increase would be a huge relative win, if that makes sense.

also, damn market getting smarter means I've been 2nd highest bidder on like 5 things I really wanted in the last couple weeks

All of us here are Zion collectors.. the entire market does not pay as close attention to Zion as us. Zion has been over exceeding expectations, but with expectations so high to begin with there hasn't been a huge spike of excitement. Zion is a beast, but he has yet to get that 40+ game or trip dub (thanks to his teammates). He's like a ticking time bomb. All the snowflakes get exited over the 'big game' headlines. They love the big flashy highlights. Zion has simmered of his huge highlight dunks because it's clear he solely cares about winning (my dude).

His stat lines on a nightly basis are the best we seen, but if he's not being plastered on every social media highlight reel.. then the hype is mild. All of us here know, come next year when he gets the right pieces around him it's GO TIME and we'll all be very happy campers. Just keep buying what you like, there currently is no bad buy come time. The talking heads are already starting to chirp. All they gotta do is watch and they will talking him up. The entire game is now based off being the first to to pump. Zion has never been an "I told you so player" so they have left him alone. Letting him fly low and go a little un-noticed for a bit will give them time to jump back in to pump. When it starts it will be crazy times for all of us.

Yep, it's already been established that Zion can put up great numbers.


He's healthy this year and he's slowly establishing his game as a floor-raiser.


Some of his stuff has already seen a slight bump the past couple of weeks and I expect them to dip if they miss the playoffs.


Zion just needs a winning team around him to take his hobby/media exposure to another level (same as Luka)

Yep, all the big boys still aren’t really pumping Zion yet. Probably because they are all buying while it’s cheap and they don’t want the market to jump yet. There was a point not too long ago when Zion and Ja were even on most cards, and Ja actually climbed slightly ahead in some cases. But now Zion is the clear #1 from that class and Ja is lagging behind, so I can see why some people think he’s undervalued in comparison now. I’m just not that high on Ja. I think Zion has a much higher ceiling (MVP, best player on a championship team, etc.), and I don’t see Ja getting to that level. If you gave me two options and I could only pick one: either Ja wins an MVP/Finals MVP...or he never makes an all-star team, honestly I’d probably pick the never makes an all-star team option.
