They're gonna say they were just "trolling" now, even though just like Purdy if he goes on a cold streak they will be the first to say "I told you so" lol

Anyway I think I jynxed the hat-trick, i'll be quiet next time he has two goals. It's too bad they lost this one, everyone is talking Vancouver because of their record but this team nearly swept a team that just made the Cup final (and the winner was a powerplay), Vegas who are ridiculous this year, Tampa, Pens, imagine they had a few more pieces. Despite their record I think Bedard is helping the Hawks overachieve, especially if you look at an Edmonton and imagine Leon being with him the way he is Mcdavid.

I think 23-24 SP Authentic might be my hockey wax of choice to stash away.

Probably, yes. That's why I've been loading up on Topps Chrome MVP buyback cards. Going to use all that credit for boxes to stash, at a 35%~ discount.

That was what seems like a pretty obviously facetious post.

Welcome to the internet. And more specifically, BO.

Big game? People swoop in and claim vindication on the hype.

Unlucky 4 game stretch with no points? People swoop in and claim vindication on pouring cold water on the hype.

Rinse and repeat for the next 15 years of his career.

A tale as old as time.

Once he establishes himself, the doubters will say he needs a Hart.

Once he gets a Hart, doubters will say he needs a Cup.

Once he gets a Cup, doubters will say he needs a gold medal.

Once he gets a gold medal, doubters will say he needs another Cup.

Once he gets 2 Cups, doubters will say he needs to break Gretzky's goal record (or maybe Ovi's by that time).

Kind of funny, Sid's got all that stuff and he's kind of an afterthought these days. Maybe he needs to break the scoring record.

It’s is amazing how much Sid has disappeared from the hobby scene. Has any hyped prospect in the last 20 years accomplished more?

Crosby might have the most impressive resume in hockey history tbh. Like when you really look at the depth of what he's done it's crazy he's not more sought after

Crosby is too vanilla for his own good, at least when it comes to cards and the market...

People like flashy, loud and boisterous, super speedy and dipsy-do-dangles...

But his resume is probably the best since Gretzky's, as I consider Canada Cups equal to or greater than the Olympics...

He’s been in the league so long he’s just being taken for granted now. Hobby fatigue towards the end of a long career.

Besides, the hobby runs on hype and you can’t maintain rookie level hype for 20 years. The same thing will happen to McDavid eventually. It’ll happen to Bedard in 15 years time too. Just the way it is. There will always be new guys coming up with fresh hype to get peoples attention.

Sid will be more appreciated when he’s retired and inducted into the HOF. You don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone.

Hockey is so different. 15 years of hype?

The hype in baseball many times dies down a month after the player gets called up.

Basketball, the hype goes away after like 2-3 seasons.

Hype dies down in football after the guy throws a pick.

McDavid is approaching ten years and still going pretty strong. Maybe some of that is the fact everybody is still waiting for a Cup win and the validation that comes with it? If he had already won a Cup a few years in like Crosby did maybe he’d already be falling off the radar despite still being the best player in the world.

Crosby has done it all. There’s nothing really left to prove so the hobby just isn’t as excited since the accomplishments are already in the bag. McDavid is still in the “he can still get it done” hype phase and Bedard is only just getting going.
