For more information on how the CDC came about this # and how they have even broken it down into four age groups, you can find the data here ...https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019...scenarios.html

Long story short, this is their current breakdown for infection fatality rates across the population:

0-19 years: 1 in 333,333
20-49 years: 1 in 50,000
50-69 years: 1 in 200
70+ years: 1 in 20
Thats whats tough....the national average per household are 5 people each fitting (1) of each criteria.
That means Dad dies, Mom dies, OR granny dies? every 10 houses in your neighborhood. And you havent even added the pre-existing math yet.

80 million Americans infected, 200,000 have passed and of this group, the vast majority were very old and very sick. To be scared of something like this, as a healthy person, is simply illogical and irrational.
Let's look at it another way.

Somewhere around 3 million Americans die every year. I think it was 2.8 million last year. That's a big number, but a small percentage.

200,000 dead attributed to Covid so far this year. Let's say at year's end it's 300,000. That would mean that Covid was blamed for 10% of all American deaths this year.

Ten percent of all American deaths this year isn't a small thing. That's a lot. That's nearly 1000 people every day. That's the equivalent of a 911-world-trade-center type catastrophe every three days. 1000 people a day is like nuking a city the size of Santa Fe every three months.

You say 0.26%, I say 6 Oklahoma City bombings every day. And that's on top of the normal death rate. And that doesn't even consider the 40,000+ people getting sick every day that will survive.

No big deal though, everything is fine.

Can someone attempt to explain this post to me? I can't make any sense of it.

3,700 people die EVERYDAY in this world from automobile accidents. Please tell me you're not dumb enough to ever be caught in a vehicle!

Wear a mask
Wear a seatbelt

And your odds of living thru both increase by a substantial number....

No, it's that your post doesn't make any sense. I didn't understand what you meant regarding the average household, who it is comprised of, etc.

38,000 per year of them are Americans.

So, that means Covid is killing roughly 7 times as many Americans every day than car accidents. And still we spend billions on safety features. We wear seat belts. We pay for air bags. We do a whole lot to make that number as small as possible.

Tell me again what a hassle it is to wear a mask. Tell me again how it's nothing to worry about.

Not a hassle at all. I wear a mask because I am required to in certain places. I don't care.

And I will tell you again, it's nothing to worry about. 50,000 people my age get infected; 49,999 recover. I'm healthy, so add a zero. I have a better chance of dying from a bee sting.

I'm not scared of bees either. I'm guess I'm funny that way.

Off this: Your numbers

0-19 years: 1 in 333,333
20-49 years: 1 in 50,000
50-69 years: 1 in 200
70+ years: 1 in 20

Average household-2 kids, 2 adults, and 1 senior of sorts at times (a lot more seniors currently) But these numbers have infinite variables.

How is that an average household? Where are you getting this data? Are you just guessing?

The average household in this country has 3.14 people. You're not even close.

I believe that you don't care.

Wearing a mask isn't to protect you. It's to protect others. Your indifference to the welfare of others does not surprise me.

You wear a mask sometimes, when it's required. I wear a mask every time I go anywhere, because it's the right thing to do, because I don't want to kill anyone.

But once its not required you are cool with infecting others? Hmmmm

Tell that to the breast cancer survivor who has to stand next to you in the isle at walmart. She doesnt want to be there either standing near you but she needs to feed her children.

I wear a mask everywhere, because it is required. There is no indoor establishment in CT that does not require a mask (to my knowledge). The feed bill for the high horse you are on must be really expensive. You'd save a lot of $$ getting off it from time to time.

I do enjoy you constantly looking down on me for choosing to live my life a certain way. Hope it makes you feel better.

30k-60k people die from the flu every year. We don't wear masks to stop spreading that, and it has a similar risk to vulnerable populations. Even with a vaccine.

This is a global virus dude....not just the United States! Your CDC numbers are globally just like my household numbers are.

First, I rode in on a camel.

Second, your insults do nothing to advance your position, nor do they impress me.

Third, I'm glad you wear a mask everywhere. It's the right thing to do.
