Ronald really did single-handedly (as best a positional baseball player can) keep the team in the divisional race long enough for the trades to manifest and the rest work out.

It's a minority opinion based on multiple team articles I've read online and the fans comment section but it's true. As for playoff performance in his career, it's good. To debate his performance is dependent on the great lineup as a whole, maybe that's just an endless, cyclic conversation.

No one is diminishing Acunas value in 2021. But we all saw the playoffs and the WS. As an Astros fan that team was solid top to bottom and their staff came alive. The truth is they did win it all (the playoffs) without him, just as the Nats did in 2019 without Harper. It’s not a knock to either players greatness, and Ronnie’s presence on the bench was a huge factor encouragement. Soler, Rosario etc carried them in the playoffs and were huge pickups. Freeman, Albies and company were stellar. Pitching wins championships and ATL staff was great.

My 3 best Acuna cards. Had 3 PSA 9 bat downs and sold 2 when they were $700+ and kept 1. Probably keeping these for a while.

I really don’t think the post season has much to do with it if anything. That has rarely been a major factor in baseball. To me there’s a couple of factors.

1. Ohtani. He’s taking most of the speculative high end baseball money in the market of “which current guy has the chance to be inner circle HoF.” Once you get past the early boom speculation with prospects and rookies then usually the big money is saved for someone who people think could reach legend level. That’s why Trout cards consistently rose for so long. Ohtani is just the safer bet right now considering his pitching/hitting/international draw.

2. Acuna was seen as that guy potentially then he got hurt. There was still enough speculation before the season started last year (and the market was still strong) so his cards didn’t take a hit immediately. Then he had a difficult year last year (for good reason). Money started going to other guys in droves. He didn’t have the same steam coming into this year. Even though he’s on a historic pace I think it will take a full year of this and possibly a follow up performance next year for major money to start going back his way.

3. From my experience there are very few times that established players get a bump mid season despite a great season. Unless they have gone through a long lull already. I would guess that if he finishes this season going 30/60 or better then he will have some momentum before the sewson starts next year

This post is good, but it’s also the knock (always has been) on why many never view Trout as the great player he has been. Zero success in the postseason.

I believe Acuna has a total of 61 base Topps Now cards so plenty of hitting images to chose from. Hopefully many more to come this year. My player run in the Z-Folio is coming along nicely.

2018 Topps Series 2 Target hanger exclusive redemption (numbered to 25).

I've seen two copies of Acuna and three Gleybers.

I don’t think I posted this on this thread, but here’s my humble submission of recent pickups. The ‘18 is numero #001, which I’ve sort’ve leaned into I guess.

Definitely the same game, May 6, 2018 against the Giants. Given that vendor(?) in the background, I'd agree that it's almost certainly the same at-bat.

Target auto:

Vertical SSP:

And, just because I found it while I was digging, the image for the "The Future is Bright" card with Ozzie Albies was from May 4, 2018:

Yeah but I really don’t think that’s had an impact on his cards. Now that might change as he’s starting to have injuries every year and people start trying to out him in historical contexts. But my point with him in comparison to Acuna’s prices is that I don’t think the Braves winning the World Series without him has had a negative impact for the vast majority of collectors/buyers.

Two of my favorite images from his rookie year.

Ive always had a soft spot for the Future Is Bright card. Imagine if both Acuna and Albies continue on their trajectory.

Ozzie is underrated IMO. Especially considering the position he plays.

The fact that they actually made THAT pic his 1st Topps Flagship RC is soooo cool. Wish they would do it with every player, great way to start off their cardboard career.

Trout's US175 is probably from his debut game on 7/8/11 as they wore those Throwback jerseys on 3 days that year; 7/8 & 8/5 (Trout didn't play) against Seattle, and 8/19 against Orioles.

And it is
