Man, a month ago Shohei would've crushed that 90 MPH fastball down the pipe from Maeda. Instead he foul tips it into the glove for a K. Ouch.

I'm saying this out of pain that he can't be unbelievably crazy good all the time. It's ok, I'll adjust!

Just got my 2018 Archives “swinging” variation RC. I remember Archives being a thinner card stock back in the early 2010’s but I haven’t bought much since. Is this common being very flimsy compared to other sets?

Yeah, Archives cards feel way thinner than other cards.

Very cool to see Maeda pitch to Ohtani. Ohtani also waved and said hi to my daughter! Seems like a good dude and the crowd here loves him.

Okay. Everything else seems right with it so I’ll go with the consensus that it’s not fake. Lol

Nice seats!
Glad that Shohei is treating you and your daughter well!

I love what the MLB did with the mics during the All Star break. Tatis is a class act despite his on field embarrassments. All he needs is a gold grill and he would be confused with the next mumble rapper on the street. Ohtani came across as the most likeable person, huge smile, unadulterated joy, but... everyone who watched the dugout interview knew he understood every question that was asked in English by the booth.

Freddie Freeman was the best.

I'm no expert but he seems to be chasing a lot of low breaking balls, taking a lot of hittable pitches and whiffing or fouling off a lot of juicy fastballs in the zone. Just seems out of sorts.

Me too!

Regarding Ohtani's interview: I have a handful of friends whose parents are immigrants. After awhile, they typically understand spoken English but have trouble speaking it themselves. And, even if they comprehend, say, 90% of what's being said, there's enough of a gap that they feel more comfortable having someone truly bi-lingual to help them with the remaining 10%: new words, idioms (ex: a friend thought "your money's no good here" was an insult), nuance, etc.

Some people have also raised the fact that he gave an acceptance speech in English. I had couple friends marry interracially who gave short "thank you" speeches to the parents in their native languages at the wedding. A classy gesture that in no way indicates that my friends are fluent in those languages (I'm from Central Mass, everyone has slight Boston accents).

IMHO, wouldn't shock me at all if he's in a similar situation here.

Separately, completely agree with you on Freeman. Would only add that "Freddy Freeman and his son" were the best. So chill of Freddie to roll with his son loving Tatis!
