exactly... if that same card in PSA 10 was repeatedly being sold for $255 then i might start to worry.

I've noticed the rookie cup cards of Trout has been slowly declining as well. But yes, it must be because it's a second year card.

Ohtani needs to get back on track before the end of July. I am hoping he can get to 40 bombs before August. The quest for 62 will begin in earnest if he does. It almost appears the pitchers are pitching around him now.

Would anyone care if he gets 60 or 62? I'm pretty sure Barry Bonds has won that quest.

If Ohtani can continue to pitch well and get 50+ HRs with a decent batting average it will be one of the best seasons of all time.

Trust me there would be a significant push for 62 in that a huge number of people still feel Maris 61 is the “unassisted” hr leader.

His season would be MVP worthy if he dies as you said.

Anyone that thinks 62 homers without PED’s wouldn’t be viewed as significant is kidding themselves. The hype would be unreal if he closes in on this mark. Still an extremely tall order, but it’s within the realm of possibility.

There's a lot of talk about the Ohtani market being overheated. It makes sense, given that his values have appreciated so quickly. That said, it feels like many of his higher-end cards are still selling at a fairly steep discount to Tatis and Acuna. For example, here are the sales available on PWCC and eBay for the Bowman Chrome Gold Auto over the past 2-3 months:

Ohtani (2018 Bowman Chrome Auto Gold - batting)
July 21: $16,100 (BGS 9)
July 17: $23,850 (BGS 9.5)
May 2: $11,322 (BGS 9.5)

Tatis (2016 Bowman Chrome Auto Gold)
July 8: $36,877 (BGS 9.5)
June 16: $44,800 (BGS 9.5)

Acuna (2017 Bowman Chrome Auto Gold)
June 16: $36,100 (BGS 9.5)

IMHO, it doesn't feel like Tatis should be valued 50% higher than Ohtani, who seems like he may be on his way to being the Patrick Mahomes or Steph Curry of baseball. For all three, it's not only their stats, but how they get there: no-look passes (Mahomes), 3-pointers from the logo (Curry), 2-way player (Ohtani).

Of course, there isn't a right answer, just sharing my $0.02.

Will be interesting (and fun) to see how this plays out over the rest of the season and into the future.

The general public got a glimpse of Ohtani, but the hype more-AS game has fallen. He needs a couple more productive weeks. Imagine him have 4 HR’s instead of only 1 post AS game like Vladdy. If he hits a couple bombs I. A game or two we will see things pick up. Also with the National around the corner people are holding more dollars for it, but lots of money not going to The National.

Look at the Goldin sales for Ohtani in Orange and Gold.

They are higher I believe now without checking.
