You do realize that many people collect non-PSA 10 cards, don't you?

Stating that any card that is not "perfect" is trash shows exactly how the combination of TPG and flipping is taking the hobby off the deep end.

Take all those cards that don't meet your grading standards to your local school or Boys & Girls Club if they aren't good enough for you...I'm sure that there would be plenty of kids who would love to have them.

He’s preselling the cards, so he has customer expectations to deal with

i finally got my pujols sets today....

6 of each 18 cards...

they came in 6 boxes.... in 1 large shipping box

16 were perfect.. 2 had small dinged corners...

i have 150 cards now.. about 10 bad...

jake.. i have no idea how you keep doing this in mass

But orders in small quantity is working....

So?

The sense of entitlement in the hobby these days kills me.....i.e. the attitude that flippers are entitled to receive Gem Mint cards from Topps specifically so that they can get them graded and flip them for a profit.

Hint....as long as the process of manufacturing, printing, and shipping cards is done by humans, there are going to be flaws. Deal with it....

If the condition of the cards you are buying from Topps is not good enough for you, then STOP BUYING THEM!

But to continuously whine about known pre-existing problems is just plain annoying. It's not like it's a secret anymore that Topps Living cards have problems....

I don’t disagree that there are some unrealistic expectations out there, but we are paying for premium on-demand cards direct from the manufacturer. I think we have a right to have higher expectations than normal packed out products.

I don't want to jinx what I've been getting, nor do I want Topps to send me their less-than-perfect cards simply because I don't care as much as others do regarding quality, but here goes:

I have been ordering at least 10 of each of these Living Set cards since the beginning.

I have not seemed to have the troubles others are talking about here, at the rate they are talking about here.

I enjoy opening the packages hoping for some "gem mint" examples of my cards.

If every card I received as well as every card everyone else received were perfect, gem mint or pristine worthy cards, I would lose interest very quickly.

If even 1,000 of each card graded PSA 10, I wouldn't want to collect the set. I collect high-grades because of their actual or perceived rarity. Entire print runs of "perfect" cards don't interest me in the least.

I'm glad Topps is sticking to the same card stock. I'd prefer they stick to their, "we only replace cards that will grade less than BGS 8", mentality, if that even exists. But I digress.

I must wholeheartedly disagree with you. If I'm paying $5 for a single base card from 2018, I do have expectations. One of those expectations is, the card is not all dinged up. Just because you may not buy for value doesn't mean others don't and it doesn't mean it's a dirty thing to do.

And you want Jake to spend $3.75 per card, buy hundreds of cards, and then just donate the hundreds (at $3.75 each) that he can't send out to charity? I don't know Jake's financial situation but I tend to doubt he is in a position to donate thousands of dollars a week. And even if he was, what about his customers that are waiting for those cards? "Sorry dude, cards came in dinged up so I donated them and you don't get what you ordered!" Great way to do business!

I'm kind of fed up with these people that think it's a crime to want to buy and sell and make money with cards. I'm sure you only buy Topps Opening Day, right?

You're welcome to your expectations.

But given that it's pretty clear by now that Topps either can't or won't meet those expectations, why are people still buying Topps Living cards and then whining about the fact that they often arrive with flaws? If paying $5 for a card that may only grade PSA 8/9 is not acceptable to you, well....nobody is forcing you to continue to buy Topps Living cards.

People need to either stop buying or stop whining....it's been a known issue for several months at this point....

Now that's a different point altogether. My 80th Annivesary Wrapper cards came in the other. All 3 cards have dings. The next time that happens, I'm done with the Wrapper cards. It's just that simple. I'm not taking the time send back 3 cards, but I do have expectations that I get what I pay for.

Looks like Topps is changing the way they release cards. There's an hour left and they show both sets. One from this week and for next week.

Torres is here as many predicted.

34. Gleyber Torres
35. Adam Duvall
36. Jordy Mercer

Looks like Topps calls Gleyber an outfielder. Hopefully they fix their digital image.

5 minutes later, “second base”

Maybe someone at Topps pulled the trigger too soon, or the new guy is running the site. There was a 80th Anniversary card in the Living Set list earlier today.

The NY factor will be interesting to see vs. Acuna’s LS.

I hope everyone learned from the Acuna week and just buy the star. The bundle is not the way to go. This led to an exaggerate PR of the other cards.

I was looking forward to the first Pittsburgh Pirate, but the Mercer card might be the worst-looking one so far. I think the artist is getting to the point where she might be rushing her work.
