Thanks, I like the close enough color match too. The Mariners don’t have a true match, since blue isn’t it, and neither is the new aqua.

So I hit a base auto rookie of Julio in 2022 Topps Gold Label. It was a redemption and I redeemed it last year. I see others have gotten theirs back from Topps. Am I never going to get this card? I obviously don’t want to sub it for something else. Anyone else waiting on theirs?

Sent in some heritage Julio to PSA, grades just popped. Heritage is a tough one.

Great pick up. How’s the Julio market been lately? I can’t say I follow it too much since he’s mostly out of my budget range.

I picked one up in that 185 range about a month ago. Was really happy with it.

TCU refractor is an excellent buy IF you can find one centered and clean. I got a well centered 9 and probably overpaid but content to hold it for the long term and see how his career shakes out.

He certainly does have a lot of RC logo stuff, but I think his premium stuff will remain in high demand if he continues his rise to stardom.

All the Heritage Real One autos from 2022 are rough to gem, but Julio is silly tough. I'm guessing it's the black border on the back making this a tough gem. I picked up a few Julio 9s myself for this reason.

Looks like it jumped to 4 gems out of 64 recently.

They include BGS 9.5+, SGC 10 as well. So, it could indeed still be 2 PSA 10s, I just happened to notice two more gems in late Sept/early Oct.

First J-Rod card.

I have wanted this card for a very long time. Red /5. I never thought this card would be attainable. Thought it would cost me over a grand to acquire. It really reminds me more of a 90s style insert. A month back, I got an alert on it but thought it was the same BIN at 2.45k that it had always been. Didn't realize it was an auction till after it was over and it only went for 163 bucks. I was kicking myself. Whoever bought it ended up being a flipper and they listed it for 250. I was bummed I didn't get it on the first auction (and who knows, maybe the winning bidder would have kept pushing it up higher any way if I had got in a bidding war with him) but for a card I never thought I'd be able to get for under 1k, I was more than ok with paying this flipper 87 bucks for the privilege of getting it.

A few things I love about this card are that it only has one parallel version (besides the superfractor) and it is this red /5. The "base" version of this insert is /70. So only 76 total cards made across all parallels. Additionally it's a short checklist that will likely change from year to year if they keep this insert around. This year, only 5 current players are in the checklist along with two legends. I assume next year, it won't be the same 5 current players as the theme seems to suggest they will highlight 7 awesome players each year as one of the seven wonders.

Anyways, my first J-Rod card. I plan to hold it for a long time.

I bought one early for $400 raw, graded a PSA-9. I bought another 9 for $400 (hey, saved the grading fee!). I bought a raw one for $150 and sold it for $300 to offset some of the over-pays. Then bought another 9 for $265. Then bought a 10 at auction for only $405

. I like the card, but I think I'm done for now.

Certainly! But you should also do your own research before jumping in. I don't pay attention to Sapphire. There's also paper gold and other parallels. And Heritage. I like stuff like this (once you see it...you'll see it)

Well done man. I think that PSA 10 for $405 will go down as an epic purchase.

Nobody has the crystal ball, but I think Julio is special and has some room to grow as a player. Becoming more consistent is going to be the key, but I think it’s well within reason to have faith he can adapt and mature in his approach. The talent is undeniable.
