They'll open the bubble mailer and split it up and not just assume the bubble goes to one person.
Sportlots will definitely open the bubble mailer because it is going to be addressed to sportlots, not your buyers. Just make sure you put buyer ID, seller ID, and order number on each PWE inside the bubble mailer.

I can't figure this one out. i feel like the buyer outsmarted himself.

For reference I charge 85 cents for 1 card budget (PWE) and $1.59 for 2 - 4 cards budget (PWE).

I got a 3 card order from a regular customer who had $3.12 in loot credit with me. The order was for $3.67 which earns him another 18 cents loot for a future order. So the total for this order is $3.67 (3 cards) - $3.12 (loot credit) = 55 cents + $1.59 postage = $2.14 spent by the buyer.

5 minutes later I get a 1 card order for $4.45 from the same buyer using the 18 cents of loot credit he accumulated 5 minutes earlier. So the total for this order is $4.45 (1 card) - $0.18 (loot credit) = $4.27 + $0.85 postage = $5.12 spent by the buyer.

So he spent a total of $7.26 on the two orders.

If he would have added the 4th card to the first order his total would have been $8.12 (4 cards) - $3.12 (loot credit) = $5.00 (cards) + $1.59 (postage) = $6.59 spent by the buyer.

He spent another 85 cents in postage on the 2nd order to use 18 cents, when he could have added the 4th card to the first order at no extra postage.

He lost 67 cents by doing it the way he did it.

I think you're overthinking it. The buyer bought all the cards he thought he wanted. Then realized they wanted more, and bought more.

That might very well be the case.

I had just put a couple of cards from one seller into my cart, then tried to look for more from them since I was already paying for shipping. Sportlots told me that the seller was now "on vacation" and removed the items from my cart. I still wanted to buy them, didn't mind that the seller was on vacation. Surprised I can't purchase to put a hold on those cards.

Yes, when a seller goes on vacation all carts get emptied.

Funny you bring this up because I noticed that the seller bryancsc (who posts here) set all his shipping prices to $99.99, and now I'm guessing it is to deter any current sales without upsetting anyone's carts. Maybe he's taking a little break without putting his store into vacation.

Yes, this is the exact reason why I have put my shipping prices at $99.99. Being a large seller, I'm sure I have thousands of cards currently sitting in carts. I'd rather not wipe those out, and just decided to bump my shipping prices instead.

I am taking about a month or two break from Sportlots, as I need to get my inventory much better organized, so I can fill orders faster.

This is thoughtful of you.

As one of those buyers this raises another question for me. Is there any way in Sportlots to split my cart so I can purchase some while saving others for later? Any insight anyone has would be greatly appreciated.

In the bottom right corner on the cart page you would be able to select by seller and can sort just those ones out to purchase at that time.

I call BS on this -- there's no way this was caused in shipping. There were two cards inside the toploader containing this card -- the other was NM/MT with no crease.

I have two options: return the full order w/tracking and return the full order w/o tracking. I would have to pay full return shipping costs, it looks like.

Neither of these are great - it wastes my time and I have to pay return shipping. Tracking gets me an automatic refund (minus shipping costs) and w/o Tracking means it's not guaranteed to get me a refund, as the seller could just say he never got the card back. There were (3) other cards in the order that were "as described" and I would like to keep those and pay for them as I intended. But doesn't seem like the seller's giving me that option.

I just think this process kinda sucks and wish the seller would just give me my $9.95 back. No one would ever want this card in the condition it's in (maybe my 7 year old could put it in his bike spokes, if kids still do that, but that's about it), so I'm not sure why he wants it back.

Advice? Options I'm not seeing? Let me know what you think I should do.
No you can open a dispute for the damaged card. Insist on a refund for the shipping as well.

10% loot . Offers of 75% always accepted.

Just thought I'd provide an update on this. I got my $9.95 back, but despite my request, and follow-up to the request, was completely ignored on my request for my $0.70 back for my non-machinable stamp. So I basically paid for a damaged card, and then had to argue with this guy to get my money back - in addition to spending my time & cost of stamp/envelope. He even called me out for asking for advice on this forum. Ha!

It's not a big deal, I'm not going to fight about $0.70 + an envelope, but not what I'd expect from a blue star seller.

Other than that, I LOVE Sportlots. Thanks to all of you that I've ordered cards from in the past!

How do you fix Sportlots catalog errors? I searched for Upper Deck Autographed cards only, and got the following list:

Quote:

How long will cards set in your cart? As it appears it will take some time to find enough cards. Hoping to find some time this week to look more. I did know just because I have a card in my cart it is not mine and someone else can buy it out from under me.

I'm about ready to give up on Sportlots. Over the last couple on months I have been making a list of cards / sellers to make an order. Total of only 15 cards with hours of looking. A big bummer Out of the list I find a couple gone no big deal, several has raised their prices (double on some) Disclaimer I'm looking at cards $1.00 or less. 8 card now from 4 sellers at this point Did not find any my last go around. it is not a go right now because of the shipping. Box shipping will not help this time.

Do any of you more experienced sellers know if the prior sales history can be downloaded to an excel sheet?

Thanks.

It used to be quite a bit easier. I haven’t tried recently, but it was tough to do last time I tried.

I haven't bought from there in... hell almost 15 years. Back when I was trying to get a copy of every card of the phenom that was Isaiah Stanback

Went to check it out last night and I have a few thoughts.

Terrible website. Confusing and cluttered. Did not care for the aesthetics at all.

But once I got past that and figured out how to navigate I did find a great deal. $6 bucks with the best shipping for a card that consistently sells for over 40.

Hopefully i actually get it. Then I too will "only want to talk about sportlots"

Good luck. My experience has been really hit or miss with the $5 and more cards. Been refunded for 3 of the 8 I've bought so far. Four of them are sitting in the box and I haven't sent them home yet.
Noticed that if you ask for a picture of the back of a card, that when the seller uploads it, it overwrites the front picture. So that sucks.

Got my second box from sportlots today. Will have to say their box function is what makes it all worthwhile. I don't want a hundred small envelopes being delivered over a month through USPS. Got some neat cards I'm going to move over to COMC and at least triple my money on (based on previous COMC sales).
I think a lot of sellers on sportlots don't understand the parallels of cards. Bought a "Superfractor Auto" which turned out to be an Atomic Refractor Auto /25 instead. Bought a 2011 Hope Diamond /60 parallel which turned out to be a regular platinum diamond parallel. Bought a sketch card the owner couldn't find. And in my first order, bought two Ginter Rip Cards listed in NM and both had been ripped. So there's definitely something to being able to see the cards with good front/back images before buying them.

That reminds me that I should put in a shipping request for the stuff in my box - I have no idea how many cards are in there but it has probably been a year since I last cleared it out. Kind of interested to see what all is in there.

I will say that I have been guilty on a few occasions (some I have caught prior to sale, some have been caught at sale and one or two where I have been notified by the buyer) of populating the wrong variation of a card.

Based on what I have noticed, my reasons for errors are as follows:
- 80% moving too quickly or accidentally clicking on the wrong subset when entering (I have noticed myself doing this most often with Bowman Chrome where I accidentally enter stuff in as from the Mojo release).
- 10% general error and/or misidentification
- 10% unnoticed variation during sort gets in with different version of cards and is then listed improperly

I started selling in October and was able to reach "red star" status my first month, so it was a decent success. I have a few things I am frustrated/confused by however that I didn't get answered well by the owner.

I have had some orders in "Pending Payment" for well over 12 days as is stated here. Also, in two different orders, one of which finally went to fill to buyer today, I had cards removed from an order that were not available for others to buy the entire time they were in this individual's card. One of these individuals dropped a $5 card, another dropped about $20 from his cart. The first case paid today, the second still hasn't paid.

When I reached out asking about it, Sportlots said these individuals pay by check/money order, and it may be coming from Canada. But the individual who paid today after multiple weeks was in the U.S. and I was still hit with Paypal fees, which means he paid with paypal, right?

It bugs me that new hot rookies can be in their card until they lose value, then dropped from a purchase. I am going to continue to sell there, but I wish there was a true "commitment" if they are going to buy there. I suppose I could just block the buyer but I honestly don't want to limit my earning potential, so it is a double edged sword.

I will say all in all it has helped me get over my fear of PWE shipping, as all but a few of my sales have been PWE. My biggest issue has been getting the post office to have non-machinable stamps and coming up with thin cardboard to reinforce my envelopes to ensure safe shipping.

cubfan65 on Sportlots if you are interested, I have a rather small inventory still but am trying to list as I get time between work and raising a toddler!

Any suggestions or comments appreciated!

I can't speak for the pending payment stuff as it is honestly not something I have ever worried about or even looked at - most of my stuff isn't new releases so the timing matters less.

For the questions above, I do the following:
- order all stamps and supplies on the USPS website. I think they charge $1.50 to ship your stamps to you but I am generally making fairly large orders (I have done some TTM stuff in the past as well) and well worth the time needed to go to a post office and stand in line.

- the above actually helps a small amount with the thin pieces of cardboard as all the sheets of stamps come with a cardboard backer. Outside of that, I generally just use cards that I won't be listing - stuff that is damaged, junk era, etc.

Good luck and congrats on the Red Star!

Guys I misgraded a card and someone purchased it. I didn’t notice the condition when listing cards in some dim light. He said to just cancel but I don’t know how. The site has been hard to navigate and was hoping I could get advice here possibly. It has been my first issue and the buyer was super cool about it, but I can’t figure, out how to refund him the 50 cents plus shipping. I have spent $50 worth of time trying to figure it out. The admin said mark it missing, I don’t even see a place for that!

Any help on steps to take is much appreciated! Thanks Timber for the congratulations and tips as well!

I feel like the only thing I have figured out is that I could fill "0" cards, since the buyer only bought the one card. They would need to be credited the entire $1.00 shipping plus $0.50 for the card. Also, it seems like this will mess up PayPal fees for someone as I appear to be splitting the 30 cent fee with someone else. I guess I just need to figure out if it will credit him the entire $1.50 if I fill zero cards.

If you have not yet shipped the package, adjust the dropdown next to the card error and change number shipped from "1" to "0" and this should adjust everything properly.

If I am reading this correctly that this is a single card transaction, I think you will be responsible for the paypal fees associated with the transaction.
