These first 2 are exactly what was listed in the MC spec so far

Sorry, I do see you saw the Spec and ‘know’ what’s coming down the pipe.
But we saw and bought, that’s on us.

You are gonna have the breakers pimping the big hits, but this is going to be a bloodbath to open for personal buys. I see MAYBE 8 players in that auto list that MIGHT get your money back.

No doubt, a breakers product and they will break a ton.

Have you just skipped over the last full year of 2024 baseball hobby releases? How many of those that are even somewhat limited are down? My count is zero but if you want to make a list I'll look it over. The majority are probably up at least 40%.

It's how they are pricing unlicensed football and basketball junk. The fact they have gotten people to pay for this stuff when we have countless years of history of unlicensed being worthless is pretty amazing. Couple that with the fact virtually all of those are releases are now down or around original cost is crazy. They are stupid so maybe there is a chance when these products are licensed that the prices aren't that much different from the unlicensed prices.

So true. The only caveat I will point out is 1981 Topps Football is unlicensed and has held up well.

Welp. I just reversed course and bought one.

Somebody's gotta be the guy to just buy, rip and post results. I'm expecting about a 20% ROI here and that's assuming an average auto.

Who else was making football cards in packs back in '81? I think the big difference now is that there is a licensed option from Panini. All Topps has going for it with this Topps Chrome football sapphire release are the autograph exclusives with some of the big RCs and Tom Brady. Topps could have made their offering a lot more appealing with on-card autos and better photo selection.

Pre-order flipping sounds like an enormous waste of time.

$430 + ~8% sales tax = $465.

Right now the product isn't moving at $600 shipped on Ebay. There's one up for $575. So let's say you have to move it for $590 on Ebay. Less fees = ~$500, less $12-14 = $487. You'd currently have to price it below $575 to sell, so you'd net maybe $5 and a few Topps Now Points to be a drop shipper and assume the risk of damaged product in transit?

Not many. But the point is, unlicensed has not fared well over the years regardless of the circumstances. One exception in 50 years is not promising.

There are numerous unlicensed products that have seen appreciation in terms of wax prices and singles prices. Anything for 2018 is nuclear still and good unlicensed products tend to appreciate at the same percentage as licensed the few times I've actually compared the numbers in depth.

Some people may not have to pay sales tax if they are a business....

People do this just to churn credit card reward points/miles.

What a crock. Just look how hot 2024 Topps baseball is right now. Is Panini baseball hot? No. It's ice cold. Because it's unlicensed and they haven't been able to trick people like Topps has.

Over the last year or so of Topps basketball and football unlicensed releases how many of those are up? If there are any it's not by much. You can't really compare the football and basketball licensed releases because the pieces of garbage that control all the Panini product set a price that can only go down and does usually big immediately. They can't do this with Topps because Topps spreads it all around way more. They don't just let the big 3 set a hobby price that tanks 20-50% from preorder to right around release day time after time year after year.

One of my favorite things to do. I try not to do it to break even, I always intend to turn a profit, but this is SOOOO valuable if you can do it at scale. We have a 2 week Norway cruised booked for this summer and I was able to pay for all airfare with miles for my whole family. On top of that, that same "churn" has also given us the highest status on Delta so we get a free upgrade to business class for the flight with lay flat beds. These are tickets that would cost about $20k total if purchased straight from Delta. For literally nothing other than a few bucks in fees.

With most passing on this and Star Wars Hyperspace basically available at cost, what products are people planning on buying to offset the cost of membership? I'm assuming only Bowman Sapphire and Update Sapphire will be the only releases people can flip. Rest seem like a pass.

likely just the above 4 (and maybe try to flip either Museum or TCBS). I'll be cracking Bowman and TCU sapphires for sure.

It's definitely not looking good as far as flipping anymore. Sapphire baseball has the most promise but it depends on how the rookie class performs and the pricing. Can always sell the complete sets I guess.

100%. Next three drops all should be an easy pass for me (Uefa sapphire, Inception, and Museum Coll), all should be available at cost or less.

I was counting on $50 for the set, and at least a $50 fanatics credit to offset the cost. That way basically have $50 into the membership. Hopefully we get some break credit to help offset the cost.

I hope these sit for the public sale and maybe fanatics will rethink their pricing

I don’t really keep up with the rules, but I thought fanatics could only include 5 current players and all the rest had to be retired in order to not violate the deal
Set up by the nflpa ?
