Yes, they are a mixed bag. I knew the guy what was the academic tutor to the Fab Five at Michigan - wide range of academic capacities amongst them. But all were capable of getting by (a couple with a little help).
Did the tutor try to teach math and memory skills to Chris Webber?

The realignment trend has been really frustrating.

I think one of the reasons the sport is so tumultuous is that we’ve got two opposing trends colliding. We’ve got ESPN and conference commissioners driving a trend of consolidation and the creation of a super league. Then we’ve got NIL, the portal, and the expanded playoffs driving a trend of parity and giving outsider schools a shot at snagging 5-stars and making a run.

I see gambling as contributing to both—on one hand more viewers are checking in on MAC games and getting their fix and on the other hand people are growing increasingly frustrated with underdogs who spoil their parlays. They want consistent performances to make their wagers easier.

I don’t think the average fan is fully aware of the game of tug-o-war they are caught in.

College Football should have become it's own entity
'Conference'/group it how you want to

They should have kept the conferences as is for all non-football sports

Zero reason Cal Baseball should be flying across the country for a conference series against UNC. Cannot be profitable and brutal for the actual student athletes.

Figuring out TV deals would have been difficult... someone smarter than I am would have to make that work

Same. I am a bit of a traditionalist. I wish the Big 10 stayed at 12 as well as the other conferences and that the Pac 12 stayed intact. These mega conferences are something I can't get excited about.

Might have something to do with neither one making the final 4? Food for thought....

Great job missing the point that they would be doing that if either had made the final 4.

Big 10 fans are just as bad as SEC fans when it comes to riding the coat tails of other teams from their conference.

It's game time....sticking with my prediction that Notre Dame beats Georgia by 1 score (23-17).

You're the one missing the point here. You can make believe whatever you want but this year in the real world the Big 10 fans - unlike the SEC - do not have to ride the coattails of the new member(s).

Not to mention you will never find Big 10 hatred for Oregon or USC anywhere near the levels that the SEC krishnas hated Texas - until this year that is.

So you agree they would if Oregon or USC made the final 4? Those of us in the "real world" see it all over social media.

You must be new to college football if you think there wasn't extreme hatred for Oregon and USC by Big 10 fans prior to them joining the conference.

What part of "you will never find Big 10 hatred for Oregon or USC anywhere near the levels that the SEC krishnas hated Texas - until this year that is" did you not understand?

You must be new to college football if you think Big 10 fans paid much attention to Oregon at all. They just haven't been relevant enough to inspire much emotion, especially since OSU whupped them in the very first CFP Championship. Meanwhile, the SEC always had an inferiority complex where Texas was concerned. They hated the fact that Texas was a national marquee team with their own network - even when they sucked.

Notre Dame's defense is unreal. Not sure Beck would make much of a difference. They stymied Indiana's high-powered offense in round 1. Won't surprise me to see them make the title game.

I know Kirby was saying Notre dame football is built like a SEC school but dawgs play calling was terrible that series

That was a bad running into the kicker penalty. That should have been 15 but the bigger issue is how is the ND defender getting in so free to hit the kicker two plays in a row?

Tough to sustain double-digit plus play drives without making a mistake in there somewhere. IIRC that was play #15 where Etienne fumbled. Nice patience by Notre Dame's defense.

Whoever scores first wins. I’d sign up for that

Notre Dame with 5 penalties in the first quarter but made up for it with the forced turnover. Love the way these two defenses are flying around.

See, Notre Dame isn't falling into the above trap. They are smart to go 3 and out and punt as fast as they can.
