Michigan still talking about ‘The Game’ looks crazy when you’re at home and OSU is now the favorite to win it all

Yeah it's cute that the haters are dancing in the streets proclaiming because the SEC has a down year for first time in decades that all of a sudden the Big 10 is the most dominate conference in the history of the universe. lol

To listen to the haters you would think there are no SEC teams even left at this point.

When a rivalry is bigger than the whole, the result is the Greatest Rivalry in all sports in the United States. Yes, the game is constantly discussed.

No, it’s that the BIG will be allowed to do what the SEC, USC’s and ETC’s were getting away with for over a half century. With equality creates resources “talent”. The BIG can give NIL money to talented players rather than taking 2-4 star talent and developing them.

Have seen your posts. Your type is what gives the SEC a bad name

I’ll have my own back in this one, thanks

There are a couple of things at play:

1) The overall lack of success from Big 10 teams during the BCS and CFP eras that started in 1998. The Big 10 has 3 titles (2002, 2014, and 2023) while the SEC has 15 by comparison.
2) The constant SEC is the best talk coming from the talking heads at ESPN.

Everything is cyclical, but no one can dispute the success the SEC had over the previous 26 seasons. It will get even more obnoxious regardless of whether an SEC team or a Big 10 team wins the first 12-team playoff.

That's a load of crap. I went to a Big 10 university and worked directly with some of the athletic teams during my college days. From these experiences, I can tell you with 100% certainty that some of the athletes were getting some level of impermissible benefits and that the tried and true "academics are tougher" in the Big 10 angle is also a false narrative when it comes to "student-athletes".

It is also cute how the SEC-krishnas have been bashing Texas football for years and years, and now Texas is the one carrying the conference flag in the playoffs. UGA may join them in the final 4 but Texas is all of a sudden a respectable football program for some reason

As far as the academics statement, I had plenty of classes with athletes from various sports. Some were intelligent and you would never know they were part of one of the athletic teams. Others I interacted with could barely speak a coherent sentence. There's no way in hell the latter athletes would have been admitted to the school if it wasn't for their athlete status.

Same could be said of Big 10 fans. They bashed Oregon and USC to no end during their stays in the Pac 10/Pac 12, but now they are "brothers". Doesn't bother me with either, but to say it's only an SEC thing is pretty far from accurate.

Yup. My short time in college athletics showed that money exchanging hands was very, very common. Even in non competitive schools.

At my school, a very high-profile high school athlete (top 25 nationally ranked in his sport) came onto campus and was seen driving around in a fancy brand-new SUV right after arriving on campus. This athlete came from the inner city of Chicago and from a broken family. Even people who didn't follow college sports could easily put two and two together to figure out how this happened. He also fell into the category of barely being able to speak. Guessing he probably had tutors attend classes and take tests for him to maintain his eligibility. Didn't bother me as my alma mater benefitted and because I knew it was going on everywhere.

Good for the kid! They should get compensated outside of the scholarship. Musician, tech guru, etc. would be able to make money while in school. So should they.

Not me, Oregon and USC will never be brothers with Ohio State or Michigan. I hate that they came to the Big 10.

I'll gladly take the trophy at the end of the year.
But, you can lay claim to property in OSU's head at the moment

Well, that narrows it down a bit.

Yes, they are a mixed bag. I knew the guy what was the academic tutor to the Fab Five at Michigan - wide range of academic capacities amongst them. But all were capable of getting by (a couple with a little help).

The Big 10 krishnas are not thumping their chests over Oregon and USC carrying the conference flag into the final 4.
