I want to know as well. Hope to not get EQL/bot screwed out of yet another product I actually want (would be the 3rd or 4th in a row now). What happened to the good old cloudflare??? That worked fantastically and I was able to get in on most product I wanted. EQL F'ing sucks.

I'd wager they loaded a very small number of cases so they could get a quick sell-out. That seems to be Topps MO with pre-orders where they severely limit ordering to cause FOMO. I can't imagine this being too popular at the price as breakers have avoided the larger checklist sapphire products meaning this should drop in price.

My biggest complaint about this is: they turned Sapphire into a breaker's product. There used to be around 30 autos. Now, it's over 50. Most teams except the Marlins and White Sox have autos in this. This was one truly hobby product that has been ripped down to breakers. it's clear the direction that Topps is going, and most folks here do not like it because this group seems to be in tune with the hobby.

Alas, if people stop buying from large breakers, Topps' entire new business model goes kaput.

I'm going to snag an Elly rc early because I have a feeling this won't be ripped at a high rate and singles will dry up.

It’s popular to blame breakers for everything and to be fair the addition of autos seems like it’s made for them. Reducing parallels and insisting on a giant 700 card checklist seems like Topps is ignoring breakers concerns. With this one, it is possible for reasonable people to disagree about the source of problems with the product. Now Topps Heritage, I have no clue how people blame breakers for the weakening of that product but they do every year like clockwork.

I'm not blaming breakers. I'm blaming Topps for moving the market to cater to breakers. There's a subtle difference but a difference. The giant 700 card checklist has always been there. It's always been series 1 and 2.

It's that they're expanding the auto checklist so most teams have an auto, so they are allowing breakers to sell this by the team in cases. In 2020, there was a 30 auto checklist. Now, there's over 50. It was always risky to open single boxes, but you could at least count on an ok auto. Now, there's Weston Wilson and Kyren Paris, further down the list of rookies. There was enough demand for this without breakers so that they could still sell this out if they sold by the box. But nope, they are continuing to cater to breakers. I'm afraid to open my box after my bowman sapphire had 11 duplicates in the same box, all of them coming in the same pack. Topps said it was not collation, just how it is...If that happens to me here, this is my last sapphire box ever and no more Montgomery club. They can keep catering to breakers, and I just won't buy sapphire from breakers, just singles from here on out.

2019 Topps Sapphire auto checklist includes:CSA-BK Brad Keller, CSA-BL, CSA-BW Bryse Wilson, CSA-CK Carter Kieboom, CSA-CS Chris Shaw, CSA-DL Dawel Lugo, CSA-DP Daniel Ponce de Leon, CSA-DS DJ Stewart, CSA-JC Jake Cave, CSA-JJ Josh James, CSA-JN Jacob Nix, CSA-JS Justus Sheffield, CSA-KA Kolby Allard, CSA-KK Kevin Kramer, CSA-KN Kevin Newman, CSA-KS Kohl Stewart, CSA-MKE Mitch Keller, CSA-MS Myles Straw, CSA-NC Nick Ciuffo, CSA-RB Ray Black, CSA-RM Reese McGuire, CSA-RR Ronny Rodriguez, Tellez
CSA-SD Steven Duggar, CSA-SG Stephen Gonsalves, CSA-TB Ty Buttrey, CSA-TT Touki Toussaint, CSA-WA Willians Astudillo

There was plenty of duds on the checklist. This isn't a new thing.

Correct. There were plenty of duds in the checklist, but there was a much higher chance of getting a non-dud. This year with checklist over 50, there's a much higher chance of getting that dud than in 2019.

2019 - 39 Auto checklist - 34 duds - 87% duds
2024 - 48 Auto Checklist - 35 duds - 72% duds

I mean I guess it could depend on who you consider a dud, but IMO the autographs on this checklist have more hits than 2019 percentage wise. Your statement that it is riskier now doesn't really play out if you look at the checklist of the 2 years at all.

His argument wasn't about pricing. Ill listen to that all day. But he claimed the product was now aimed at breakers as they put more dud autos in it. There was always dud autos. He claimed they balanced all teams to encourage breaking....look at that checklist again, no Cardinals on the auto list despite them having a top 10 rookie this year and always being a heavily wanted team in breaks. This set hasn't been changed for breakers....

RE: 2019 TC Sapphire. I'm unsure of the resale values, but from a quick skim, I see 34 (of 39) dud subjects.

CSA-AR Austin Riley - Atlanta Braves
CSA-BK Brad Keller - Kansas City Royals
CSA-BL Brandon Lowe - Tampa Bay Rays
CSA-BW Bryse Wilson - Atlanta Braves
CSA-CK Carter Kieboom - Washington Nationals
CSA-CM Cedric Mullins - Baltimore Orioles
CSA-CS Chris Shaw - San Francisco Giants
CSA-DH Dakota Hudson - St. Louis Cardinals
CSA-DL Dawel Lugo - Detroit Tigers
CSA-DP Daniel Ponce de Leon - St. Louis Cardinals
CSA-DS DJ Stewart - Baltimore Orioles
CSA-EJ Eloy Jimenez - Chicago White Sox
CSA-FTJ Fernando Tatis Jr. - San Diego Padres
CSA-JC Jake Cave - Minnesota Twins
CSA-JJ Josh James - Houston Astros
CSA-JN Jacob Nix - San Diego Padres
CSA-JS Justus Sheffield - Seattle Mariners
CSA-KA Kolby Allard - Atlanta Braves
CSA-KK Kevin Kramer - Pittsburgh Pirates
CSA-KN Kevin Newman - Pittsburgh PiratesCSA-KS Kohl Stewart - Minnesota Twins
CSA-KT Kyle Tucker - Houston Astros
CSA-KW Kyle Wright - Atlanta Braves
CSA-MKE Mitch Keller - Pittsburgh Pirates
CSA-MS Myles Straw - Houston Astros
CSA-NC Nick Ciuffo - Tampa Bay Rays
CSA-PA Pete Alonso - New York Mets
CSA-RB Ray Black - San Francisco Giants
CSA-RM Reese McGuire - Toronto Blue Jays
CSA-RR Ronny Rodriguez - Detroit Tigers
CSA-RT Rowdy Tellez - Toronto Blue Jays
CSA-SD Steven Duggar - San Francisco Giants
CSA-SG Stephen Gonsalves - Minnesota Twins
CSA-TB Ty Buttrey - Los Angeles Angels
CSA-TT Touki Toussaint - Atlanta Braves
CSA-TW Taylor Ward - Los Angeles Angels
CSA-VGJ Vladimir Guerrero Jr. - Toronto Blue Jays
CSA-WA Willians Astudillo - Minnesota Twins
CSA-YK Yusei Kikuchi - Seattle Mariners

From the 2024 TC Sapphire auto checklist (including Sapphire Selections autos), so ~60 subjects, I see at least 15 "desirable" names.

So, let's do a quick recap.

2019 => 5 of 39 subjects are "desirable"
2024 => 15 of 60 subjects are "desirable"

I know it's unfair to compare these 2 products when one is fresh and the other is years old, however, I honestly don't remember which names were actually desired (back in 2019) other than the main 5 anyway.

Exactly this, the same people posting about not being able to buy cases and Sapphire being a breakers product were in this thread saying don’t sell for less than $300, selling every box to breakers and showing Topps the prices people were willing to pay for this. Every year they raise the price and every year the same people bitch about moan then talk about buying it anyways.

$375 including tax for one box of Sapphire is just ridiculous. Good luck with that. No way I’m buying a box at that price.

If I can get one when it posts on Topps I'm buying one for a personal. Haven't gotten s@#@ all year b/c of EQL and I'm guessing bots? It appears folks have figured out a way to bot swarm Topps - when chrome basketball and composite football opened I couldn't even get onto the site and then when I finally did all product was sold out.........
