I like the card a lot, but I'm not sure how it will be received.

Yes, I'm in his Patreon, but can't share early images from there. But the images are available now obviously.

Oh wow, now I know what you mean.

I think a key problem at this point may be that good cards are going to start to get lost in a mammoth 400 card set. I love Naturel's Ryan, but it just won't stand out immediately to most people in a sea of P2020, and overall there don't seem to be many Naturel or Nolan Ryan collectors intensely involved in this. And Naturel doesn't seem to be buying huge lots to autograph.

Efdot's card stands out. I like it.

i see nothing "this is my best yet" in that McGwire. its his Gooden retread, but using nothing from the original card.

and his Gooden was incredible (as a Mets fan from Flushing). it's an easy pass.

The Efdot Brett. i will have to think it over, but first viewing is underwhelming

Think today is another pass on both cards, at least buying from Topps. Might eventually pick up the Brett via Ebay. Unless there is a Ermsy tomorrow, looks like a one card week for me(Trout)

I see san francisco in the background; is that a problem for A's fans? Real question. [edit, this is the view "from" an airplane flying over oakland]

And baller could give old man a lesson in what a decent baseball card photo looks like. Much better photograph than the original and needless to say better image than [L]ol's.

That said, I'm in the camp that much prefers cards to resemble the original card; I really don't want completely new versions. Baller's wood borders look like cheap faux wood flooring they put in new apartments.

Is he really coming out with a Chrome set? That's one possibility if true.

Good points here. I think a lot of the PR numbers are influenced by having to get over the hump of delays from the bubble and people having to deal with offloading bulk ordered cards at a loss, that I forget how big the set is in general and how cards can get lost.

Naturel is really a subtle artist that I wasn't collecting, but who I liked (had him ranked at the top tier of artists in my first take on them). But the more I paid attention to his cards, the more I liked, and his Mic Trout was the one that made me go back and grab some of his earlier cards. At this point, I don't expect anyone to be switching artist or player sets around, so it makes sense these are getting lost a bit. A new wave may change that, but I can see cards that don't jump out in any way for the non-draw players getting lost in the shuffle. Good points again.

Are you referring to his partnership to BGS on auto'd P2020 cards? I think moving forward all the auto'd cards from his store will be BGS certified.

Unless it's something else you're referring to

I want a Blake/TPB and a Don C/AirplaneDon easter egg card.

-TPB on the Blake Gooden
-AirplaneDon on the Don C Clemente (would be EXTREMELY controversial).

This comes back to my thoughts about the set once it has been completed.

Most of cards being shipped I completely forgot about and dont even remember ordering. At the current time most arent that exciting when I receive them but after the set is over I will be able to look back and pick and choose which ones I like more than others. My opinion isnt going to be the same as others and I feel, once all cards are in hand, the secondary market will become more positive.

People love talking long term when things are up, but when things are down they get obsessed with short term thinking.

Are the nickname colors a 'Future Stars' reference?

I wasn't aware of Colossus as an actual nickname for McGwire that he used.

Learn something every day.
