I recently sent some cards to SGC for the first time - mix of vintage baseball (50s, 60s) and a couple of modern basketball cards. The cards were received a week ago Monday (10/2). We're on biz day 6-7 and no movement as of yet. Any idea when the status will move out of "received" to whatever the next phase is? All my PSA orders are moving and SGC isn't, which is the opposite of what I expected.

Any recent anecdotes relating your experience are appreciated.

My order was received on the same day 10/2 and it just hit post grading processing this afternoon 10/10.

Wow, you guys are smoking through the system. I actually sent them a message shortly after making this thread and they promptly responded to say it's in grading and should be in post-grading processing soon. Not sure why the status hasn't updated but I didn't press them on it.

It's my first time using them so just trying to work out the nuances. I keep looking at my account dashboard expecting a "Dominos pizza-like" order status indicator but it's not really like that is it? I just need to have more patience - per usual!

Rec'd 09-29-23

Completed 10-04-23 Shipped/On it's way back

Yawn.......

SGC gets your cards and sends them back to you before PSA logs them into their system.

Big surpise!

SGC Order
Received 10/3
Graded 10/10
Shipped 10/11

Had 2 cards simply get the A grade as requested. Had two 9's i am very happy about and then a 6 that is a little harsh but they gave a 10 auto grade with it.

There was one card they did not grade and refunded me. It is a 1994 pro tags Jerome Bettis autographed card. Bettis is one of a few that did have pack inserted autos but the pack inserted autos have nothing on the card to indicate the auto was pack inserted as opposed to signed IP or forged.

Quick customer service post. Yesterday I tried submitting an order through the SGC website. The payment page wouldn’t load. I tried on a different browser, the app, canceled and resubmitted the order. Nothing. I looked for a phone number to call without luck. So I emailed them through the website. Someone from SGC responded to me WITHIN THE HOUR. They asked if they could have a team member call me to take my payment over the phone. I said I was available for one hour that afternoon. That’s when they called. Say what you want about resell value. I know it’s the only thing that matters to a lot of people. But to casual collectors like me who doesn’t flip and rarely sell, this is the biggest selling point for me.

This is an SGC Pop 2 (Pop 27 in PSA) so I am disappointed as I feel it will cause them to crack it out and lower the grade. I have emailed them, but I am on the fence as to whether I want to send it back since it is for my PC.

UPDATE: So I just got my card back along with two other orders (highlights in the next post) from SGC. I'll start by saying I'm pretty pleased with the outcome, but obviously I would have preferred the 10 that it started out as. SGC cracked my damaged card and regraded it. It came back an SGC 9. They offered to buy the card outright from me but I wanted it back so they sent it and offered me $450 in compensation to make up for the damage. The card still has the slightest dimple that you can see if you hold it just right in the light.

Here are the highlights of my recent submission. These first 8 cards were from an order that consisted mostly of junk wax era rookies. Didn't get the results I was hoping for but here are the best cards.

This order was a pleasant surprise. I went 6 for 6 on this one with all getting 10's.

Has anyone heard anything about whether an SGC registry is (finally) coming?

Sent in some odd sized cards to get graded and slabbed. Most won't grade high but the uniform look and classy tuxedos for $15 felt worth it. Shipped off yesterday, should be logged in by end of week. Can't wait!

My local card shop does not use SGC but use PSA. I wanna try SGC from home, is it easy to do?

I got my SGC order back. It took about a month door to door, which is long for them but they probably had a big influx and mine were all odd sizes with a few that required research so not upset about the timing.

As to the grades, most of my order was wrestling/boxing Exhibits. I thought the grades for these were pretty fair though on the low side of my estimates. I got absolutely burned by the minimum size requirement on a few of these but not much I can do about that. Is what it is.

I submitted 3 1936 Reemstmas. I thought these were spot on as to the grades and quite happy with one of them which came back slightly higher than expected.

I also submitted 5 miscellaneous cards. These were kind of all over the map. Two scored higher than I thought by about a grade. One scored a grade lower than my estimate and the another one scored a full four grades lower than I thought. No idea why. The last card hit my estimate on the nose.

I sent cards to PSA that were deemed min-sized and they got a grade from SGC. I had a card that was thought to be altered from CGC and SGC gave it a grade. I had a card that SGC gave an authentic min size to and PSA graded it. This is a bunch of people just complaining and not knowing how grading works. It is an opinion from company to company.

These "experts" that you watch on YouTube are just as clueless as the posters that come here and think their Jerry Rice RC's are a PSA 11.

My order was picked up at their PO Box and updated as received in their system within 90 minutes. I'm sure it's only a barcode scan and automatic update but that still is refreshingly quick.
