I know I know it’s all about winning a World Series but I still wouldn’t call the Yankees a mediocre team.

Looks like they will lose out on this too. Sources say Cubs are trading for him with an agreement possibly being annoucned today.

As much as Ive been a fan of that dude and his potential over the last few years I think NYY could be dodging a bullet on this one. Hope Im wrong but between the injury history and inconsistency I think the Marlins might be selling high here and I have a hard time seeing him be super successful in that stadium, in that town, in that division.
I think he's kind of a head case.

They're gonna try to steal a pitcher, they're not giving up anything good for one.

I would love to get excited over just one signing. This isn't it.

The Yankees are acquiring starter Ryan Weathers from the Marlins for four prospects, reports Jack Curry of The Yes Network. According to Craig Mish of SportsGrid, Miami adds minor league position players Dillon Lewis, Brendan Jones, Dylan Jasso and Juan Matheus.

The Yankees didn’t have any other 23 yr old prospects they could have sent over?

At this point, I'm just thinking the Yanks should sign Bichette and have him play SS this year. Try to retain Jazz next offseason but if not, then move Bo to 2B and hope and pray that Lombard figures it out.

Then sign someone like Bader for CF depth and platoon with Grisham based on matchups.

Lastly, sign Chris Bassitt in case a guy goes down in ST.

Yanks need to stop playing the Boras game and do what they can now. I'm not trying to be a Hal penny-pinching defender but Belli's asking price is too high and Tucker's will automatically demand higher than whatever Belli gets. None of it will matter anyway if 35 year old Gerrit Cole isn't the same after TJ and 33 year old Judge starts to regress. I would much rather the Yanks fill the holes on the field then sign a corner OF to where someone will have to play out of position.

OD

CF Bader/Grisham
RF Judge
2B Jazz
SS Bichette
1B Rice
DH Stanton
LF Dominguez
3B McMahon
C Wells

SP Fried
SP Schlittler
SP Bassitt
SP Gil
SP Weathers

CL Bednar

This would be fine with me.

Hal is too busy trying to figure out what to set the salary cap at. They're not even thinking of Tucker and I doubt they really go for Bichette. I would frankly give Bellinger a take it or leave it offer. They're not bidding against anyone but themselves and if the Mets swoop in and want to give him 40-50M a year for 3 years, let them.

Tucker seems to be going to the Mets. I hope he goes to the Dodgers and they win again. They’ve earned it spending the most money lol.

At this point I don’t think Bo would move the needle much, and with what the BJ’s picked up, and their better coaching, I see a repeat of last season.

I just want to see Judge have a monstrous season this year

I fully expect the Dodgers to get Belli, Tucker and Bo.

As much as I wasn't sure about the Cabrera fit for NYY I really think the Weathers pickup could pay off in a nice way. Some sustained health and mentoring from 2 veteran frontline lefty SPs might unlock some serious potential with this guy. It appears he's matured a ton since being drafted and lefties with strong stuff have at least a small shot at a Cole Ragans-like mid 20s emergence.
For what they gave up I love this move.
