It’s been wild to come to a card forum because of art and (so quickly) find out all these other seemingly unrelated things I have in common with other people on the board.

Very jealous of the HCL experience.

Sooooooo glad I went back and caught up with the Keith Shore set. Very well could be my favorite.

Edit: I mean he’s just showing off his hat drawing skills now. That cocky SOB.

So which pairs with Shore tomorrow?

Efdot Brett (I'm guessing it's next week)
Rochester Bob Gibson
Thiele Bob Gibson
Thiele Gooden
Something else

edit: I forgot Saladeen Koufax. That would probably be the best bet.

We're not quite half way there, but getting closer and closer.

Build a representative "artists" run of cards.

Get at least one card from each artist to make a 20 player set. Many great cards can be found the cheap right now post card 60 or so

I got my first Naturel in the mail today (Gwynn). It was worth the wait. I'm afraid to spend money on cards 1-30, so I'm picking subsets:
- Naturel cards with fans in the background
- Rochester cards in which the early '90s design looks appropriate
- George Brett cards that make use of the perspective and distance of the original card
- Ermsy and Siff cards that I can afford

I'm trying to find a category that allows me to buy today's Mariano card.

On average, I’m buying at least 1 card every (week)day. It’ll be glorious when cards actually start arriving daily (or more so during the ‘catch up’ phase) instead of once a week or so! Might have to camp out at my mailbox.... Thanks for the update Blake!

I would create a category of awesome cards that are worth less than their original purchase price and are a steal right now

Some cards would include
1) Shore Griffey--no set complete without it
2) Mays Saladeen- very underrated and nice looking cards
3) Tyson Beck-Bob Gibson beautiful
4) JK5 Rivera--super great and fresh off the presses
5) Jamieson McGwire
6) Thiele Trout
7) Vides Ryan-looks nice in hand

Most of these cards can be found well under MSRP.

I can only speak for myself, but I see the project as WAY more positive (and it's not even close)

As a combo of potpourri, treating myself, finding representative cards, and finding bargains: "Unexpected delights"? That would definitely include any Mariano Rivera rookie card that looks worthy for my shelf, or a Vides card that looks "meh" on the website but great in person.

I'm shocked that there are multiple McGwire cards that are delights (Fucci, Naturel). I always thought '87 Topps was drab and that '85 or '88 Topps was THE McGwire card... until I met you, Project 2020.

Will definitely be working in some kind of nod to the pine tar incident from 1983.
Incorporating him kissing home plate after his last home game in '93 would be nice.

My first 'legit' BMX was a Diamondback Silver Streak

Stompin' Stu Thomsen rode Huffy, he was the best rider in his day.

My friends were more into BMX (and had more money).

GT, Hutch, Kuwahara, Haro, Torker, National Pro...

I was just happy to get Z-Rims and Mushroom grips.
