Yeah, but it won't be the same unless you can run around your TV while watching it, like, real fast.

I passed on rebirth. Personally, it's probably not terrible, but it just doesn't seem that special.

apparently rebirth had a huge Saturday saving it's opening weekend box office

Quote:
Dinosaurs are alive and well at the box office as Universal’s “Jurassic World Rebirth” trampled competitors, grossing $147 million domestically over five days of the Fourth of July weekend.

The fourth installment of the “Jurassic World” series outperformed early estimates of nearly $80 million for the three days and $135 million for the five days. It nearly matched its predecessor from 2022, “Jurassic World Dominion,” which grossed $145 million in its first three days before raking in over $1 billion worldwide.

I watched "The Old Guard 2" on Netflix this weekend, wish I hadn't.

Too confusing on who's immortal, who's not, can you become immortal again, blah blah blah...

On HBO Max starting last weekend...

And honestly..

I don't see what the big deal was about it

Good movie? Sure...but all this greatness and "hype"..I just didn't get it

I didn’t know anything about how to train your dragon but I really enjoyed it, just a feel good movie. We saw jurassic world rebirth in the premium seats of the regal rpx theater and really enjoyed the bass in the seats, I think I like it more then the moving seats in 4dx. The movie and storyline were enjoyable enough and for people that just love the Jurassic universe it’s fun to get back into that world. It’s far from perfect, several wtf are you doing, that’s not realistic, makes no sense moments but hey, it’s a Jurassic park movie.

Tried watching it last night. I liked the first one. This was garbage and only made it 20 minutes in.

Where was all this blowback when The Deporter in Chief was in office for 8 years?

Not exactly sure what this means or has to do with my post...

My point was, pretty stupid of him to say that/make that comparison (I don't care what political party/ideology/Yada Yada it doesn't matter to this discussion) knowing it is a "hot button/topic" currently and risk alienating/running off potential business before the movie even releases

Barack Obama’s nickname was The Deporter in Chief due to his record number of deportations yet you heard next to no criticism from James Gunn or fellow Hollywood elites.

Imagine being so lame that you look for politics in every aspect of life.

Reviews have dropped for Superman and so far look very strong. I am looking forward to seeing this ASAP this weekend. To me, I can't imagine Gunn missing the mark on this one. My only concern is having worked in downtown Cleveland for close to 15 years, is seeing so much of it as Metropolis going to take me out of the vibe at all?

James Gunn comes across as a taco short of a combo plate. Anyone still remember his disgusting and vile deleted tweets that he once fired for? And why even bring up politics when promoting Superman, and then double down by saying, well if you don't like it, then F-off. Makes no sense. He got the golden goose and then he acts buffoonish by risking alienating a good chunk of his audience who want to root for Truth, Justice and the American Way.

You think John Carpenter treated his audience like dirt when promoting They Live which is overtly political? Nope. He respected his audience well enough to know that they would "get it" and be entertained by a damn fine science fiction film.

Many sci-fi fantasy movies, both classic and modern are disguised as mainstream but have subtle or strong social and political messages and the directors were smart enough to shut their yap and let the work speak for itself

The John Carpenter thing makes no sense since that was forty years ago and movie promo was vastly different.

The vile tweets by Gunn were edgy jokes which were in line with where he worked at the time (Troma Films).

Gunn has made some of the best received superhero movies ever and is one of the few directors to actually land the plane on a trilogy.

And he’s right, if you don’t like the idea of Superman being an immigrant, an illegal immigrant at that, then yeah, that’s a you problem since that’s been part of his story for as long as the character has existed.

I'm seeing a lot more mockery of Fox News for the Super Woke thing than I am people offended by what Gunn said.

I mean...I don't know DEEP LORE...but..calling an alien from another planet, who was orphaned and forced from said dying planet, and who didn't even know where he was from til later in life....an immigrant...is a bit of a stretch imo

And again, I don't care if your MAGA, Democrat, Tea Party whatever....or whatever you believe about the current state of things in America...

It was just pure stupid business to even potentially piss off a lot of the population and turn them off of the movie

WB has already been a crapshow running the movie division...and reports are out that it needs $500 million to break even, and $700 to be a "success"

To put that in perspective, only two US movies have topped $700 million, Minecraft and Lilo and Stitch.

Only 2 more have cracked $500 million...Mission Impossible at $575 and How to Train Your Dragon just barely at $515...

So again...even if it's a top notch great movie...he did himself a disservice

Calling Supes an immigrant is a stretch. He's a visitor from another planet who disguises himself as Clark Kent, mild mannered reporter for a major metropolitan newspaper. None of that really defines him as an "immigrant".

James Gunn is just wrong. And his brother, Sean is making things worse, not better, with his comments. Both just need to shut their yaps.

Haven't heard from the other two Gunn Bros. I'm sure they have their own hot-takes.

The Gunn brothers would have been much better off had they replied to let people watch the movie and decide for themselves, which is what I plan to do because above all I'm a fan of Superman. Disney has made similar mistakes in recent years and paid the price for it.
