Question: has an ecosystem of flux insert collectors developed yet? Thinking of visiting a card show and offloading significant lots of 20-21 Incoming and Influx rainbow material (there are only 3 parallels of each, highest /25), the Influx includes 5 black 1/1).

Or does it still take a generation for collector bases for insert sets to develop (except the bubble gum marquee stuff) as traditionally was the case (in which case I am still a buy).

As much as I love the aesthetics, there's a rookie next year I prospectively want to collect. New team to follow, yada yada. Now that Aaron is known I am sure collectors have already calculated a new ceiling far above actual expected value and it doesn't make sense to buy or pump (two NT RPAs just went for high hundreds each yesterday [if legit]. Officially priced out.

So yeah, advanced question I know.

I was just laying my similar attempt at a Nesmith rookie rainbow out (add a black 1/1 cracked ice, subtract a gold shimmer, add a couple other golds, and whatnot), and it's beautiful.

flux is the only reg issue I am approaching a rainbow in. Just picked up the gold shimmer to join the gold laser and gold cracked ice. As well as the moonlight and sunrise. Have long had the black cracked ice and added the black pulsar, when I popped it and realized there was only one on the Bay. I love everything about the inserts in this set still and even the original base design pops in the creatively named color variations.

Also like how flux offers a compelling use of the symbol x beyond the prevailing social media use. No one person owns a symbol, let's face it. I always think of it as x-factor, or as the unknown element, the beneficial randomness that drives evolution. And flux is like the social landscape that embodies that. "n. the action or process of flowing or flowing out." It's the potentiality of people who want to get somewhere new, natural, nice. Also the logo reminds me of a laptop cursor.


black pulsar... not sure if it's a low pop thing or there are a lot of GF (good flow)-authenticated unscanned factory sets sitting out in warehouses.

Aesthetically its not my favorite image, but at least they didn't over-use it across sets. The leggings are pandemic-era Tatum, even though they look ridic, they draw a chuckle.


Just learned that Panini sticker-on-soft-case is a thing. I guess it's either fake (no chance at $30) or the person took the effort to get a replacement sent for a damaged card? Personally I just like my messed up golds pack pulled, as evidence of manufacturing error.

Gold shimmer flux is just one of my all time favorite /10 looks. I like it in Incoming, I like it in this. I think there is some bigger name set where it gets as good as this, but never have afforded it.

This card actually has a lot of Smart in it. I thing Marcus really made him part of the team and backed him when it was his turn to play and help keep Boston afloat. That stuff Siakam, who also started bench/G-League is preaching, Aaron basically embodied it. He wasn't too big to stay on the Kings, ala Haliburton. He was so selfless that the Celtics found him a great home. What team is Smart on these days? I would be watching that.


I think that moonlight is even rarer than sunrise, around half the print run. I want to say that it was like pop 4 graded total for my usual benchmark, Edwards.

Also notice the up down use of x as some advertisement in the background. Maybe a stock market company. It's kind of like if one player goes up, another must go down. This self-defeating attitude is why a lot of good stuff is still accessible.
