I tend to look at those comps and if they were auctions and the person was not high bidder I say I guess you should have bid more and have a nice day. Then they are blocked.

This buyer sort of tried to big dog me stating that their comps were taken from a "paid service" (CardLadder?) that eliminate shill bids, unpaid items, etc. It apparently eliminates fixed price wins too because the comps from Terapeak were from COMC listings which I believe would require immediate payment. I could be way off because I know nothing about CardLadder.

It does not eliminate things like shill bidding and such. The system would have no way of telling the difference even trained human eyes can have trouble spotting the shill bidding. It has been shown that card ladder counts that info.

Buyer left this note after paying for a ESE.

Buyer's note: Hello. I appreciate you lowering your price. I look forward to buying more items from you. Can you please put the card in a plastic protective sleeve so that the case doesn't get scratched or damaged? Also, please double bubble wrap it. Thank you so much. Happy Easter! God Bless.

They had the option to pay for bbl mailer and took the cheap service. These people kill me.

I love those who seem to think it's your first day of shipping something

Honestly, I still may consider cancelling and blocking. They just seem like a headache waiting to happen.

Had a potential buyer with 0 feedback reach out to me on 4/5/23 with a question regarding a $1.79 quantity (6) listing with ESE shipping.

Buyer: does it come with the toploader

I explained to the buyer that it depends on how many they order, due to the way I package for shipping (i.e. if they buy all 6, 2 will come in toploaders and the other 4 will be sleeved only, with all 6 cards placed in a team bag). If they buy 1, it does come in a toploader.

Nothing back from the buyer until yesterday, 4/11/23.

Buyer: Thanks

Obviously no purchase made as of this moment.

I had a zero feedback buyer ask a bunch of condition questions - I replied with my standard WYSIWYG response to which they said they thought it was an electronic image of the card...aren't all images electronic?

Again - no purchase of further communication.

I appreciate asking the question prior to purchase, at least.

But I'm not sure what other answer the buyer was expecting that would've actually caused them to purchase the card? Now that I think about it more, the whole interaction makes absolutely 0 sense.

I would say 90% of these questions never result in a sale. They are like they call in the car business tire kickers. Jut like wasting your time. Then if they do buy they are usually problematic.

Right there with you. Same with additional scans, never do them unless I "know" the buyer - lots of work for nothing or typically a problem

One that results in even fewer sales is the old - what's the number XX/99 of this card?

I know what they're looking for but I've never had one purchased after answering the question.

Had a super annoying one tonight on a $1.79 listing that I likely should just block and ignore, but I'll give them until tomorrow to see if they respond.

Buyer, 7:48 PM: "Hey"
Me, 8:20 PM: "Hello there!"
Buyer, 8:25 PM: "How low"
Buyer, 8:26 PM: "Do you have any Norfolk"
Buyer, 8:28 PM: "Hey"
Me, 8:39 PM: "I can do $1.50 as my lowest for this card. Thank you."
Buyer, 8:41 PM: "Do you have any elly"
Buyer, 8:42 PM: "Any Norfolk players"
Me, 8:45 PM: "I have some 2022 baseball that I need to sort through and then list. There may be some Elly mixed in, but I'm not sure at the moment. What other Norfolk players are you looking for?"
Buyer, 8:58 PM: "Do you want the roster"
Buyer, 9:05 PM: "Hey"
Buyer, 9:11 PM: "Hey"
Me, 9:21 PM: "If you'd like to send the roster over I can take a look at what I have listed"
Buyer, 9:21 PM: "Ok"
Buyer, 9:21 PM: "Do you have a favorite mlb team"
Buyer, 9:22 PM: "https://www.milb.com/norfolk/roster"
Me, 9:24 PM: "I like the Red Sox. I'll have to take a look at the roster to search a little later tonight or tomorrow morning, if that's ok?"
Buyer, 9:26 PM: "Well you see I would like to know because when I order I want it to arrive before the series starts and we don't know how the post office is. Do you understand"
Buyer, 9:32 PM: "Hey"
Buyer, 10:11 PM: "Hey"
Me, 10:19 PM: "I just got home and was able to check my active listings. I have listings for the following players:
DL Hall
Chris Vallimont
Lewin Diaz
Connor Norby
Jordan Westburg
Daz Cameron
Colton Cowser
Hudson Haskin
Kyle Stowers"
Buyer, 10:36 PM: "Ok. Do you know what the price would be"
Buyer, 10:36 PM: I don't need hall"
Me, 10:44 PM: *sent eBay store link*
Me, 10:44 PM: "Are you able to search the items in my store and tell me which one(s) for those players you'd be interested in?"
Buyer, 10:46 PM: "All but Dl, cowser, diaz . Not sure about stowers"
Buyer, 10:50 PM: "Any Elly"
Me, 10:56 PM: "Ok I have multiple listings for each with multiple quantities. I really can't give a price without knowing what specific cards you're looking for. If you search their names in my store, you should be able to find the listings and tell me the listing titles or items numbers you would like."
Me, 10:56 PM: "No Elly"

No response since.

On second thought, I'm just going to block this buyer.

I would have blocked after "hey" buyers on ebay need to get to the point. The ebay messaging is not a chatroom

What is the ebay ID I may know them as I am in the Norfolk area and see this guy may be from my local show and is a pain.

Just to be clear- blocking does not stop these guys from messaging, right? They can still drive you up the wall with their annoying messages?
Any way to block communication?

Yes blocking does stop messaging as long as you don't respond or have a transaction. There is a box you click in your preferences

Yeah there's a toggle that says, "Don't allow blocked buyers to contact me"

Which means "Buyer won't see the "Contact Seller" button on your Questions and Answers page."

The information icon shows, "Buyer won't see the "Contact Seller" button on your Questions and Answers page.
Buyers can still contact you about existing transactions, unless you add them to your blocked buyer list."
