I really don't think we need to bring up the victim in this Kobe thread or ironic "metoo" posts. If that situation makes you not a Kobe fan, that's fair. It's also fair for fans of the game to separate player and person and still enjoy Kobe as an incredible basketball player.

Can't forget Kobe helping to form Dream Team II and bring back the Gold to the US in 2008.

LEO from Alabama attacking Kobe hours after his death. Easy to connect the dots.

Listen guys when it comes to basketball no problem with clapping back at the trolls but not today. Add to ignore, report, and move on. The rest of us can honor his passing.

I was never a basketball fan. Still aren't. But when Jordan or Kobe played I'd watch just because I knew I'd see a show. Just amazing players. Everytime Kobe was interviewed he seemed like a genuinely nice guy that was happy. Terrible day for everyone. Awful is daughter was on board

Nice to see him bring US back to the top and assume whatever role he needed to

I was born in 1984. Out of all the guys I watched play these are my top 5 players ever with no consideration of MVPs, finals, etc - just simply amazing ballers:

1. MJ
2. Kobe
3. Penny
4. T-Mac
5. LeBron

(I'm obviously a Magic fan...)

Attended high school in pennsylvania for a couple years that Kobe was at Lower Marion. I remember wanting to go to one of the state tourney games in Hershey but didn't go. Big mistake and easily one of my worst sports related decisions ever.

So sad all the way around. I’ll never forget the show he put on in his last game dropping 60. Gone way too soon, RIP to everyone on that plane...

Admitted to it. Graphic details from police etc.

I was disgusted when someone tried to compare him to Clemente. I mean seriously.

Enjoy each and every day....time is so precious, put down the cell and play with your kids, treat others as you would want them to treat your children.

Kobe really grew on me after he retired. He stuck around, gave back to the community, coached up his daughter and teammates. He was a bigger person after he retired. Never heard anything like it from previous stars. I was looking forward to see how far Gigi was going to go in her career also. Could've made the WNBA bigger. Now we won't know. Prayers to all involved in this tragedy.

RIP Kobe, I remember watching all those years of his competitiveness. I'm a Jordan guy, but Kobe was just an absolute force.

It was a pleasure and honor watching you play the game you love. My dad passed away years ago and part of my memories was watching Laker games with him. Thank you Kobe for being part of that.

RIP Kobe.
