Topps let stores have wax boxes on a type of credit. End of season whatever didnt sell...Topps would take back and give credit to the vendor for new product. Topps put the black line on them to denote a return. Then they would sell the "final sale" black line cases at a super discount to dealers like Fritsch or Galasso

What was the purpose of the black mark? I heard years ago it had something to do with returning it to Topps as unsold inventory? ( something like that )

Adding my lone 23-24 series 2 hobby box. Wanted around 10 of these, but the $300 USD pre order price stopped me from doing that. Got lucky in a raffle and got this one for $225 CAD. I believe these boxes will come down in price when the hype behind Bedard slows down, and I’ll be buying more when that happens.
