I was not but again I am no expert in identifying fakes and trimmed cards. Based on the evidence they presented, it was likely that my Jordan was fake and Lebron was trimmed.

4. Can BODA be wrong in their assessment?
Their job is to present the evidence and it is up to the owners of the card in question and other collectors to make their own assessment based on the evidence presented. If the owner chooses to believe that BODA is wrong, it is up to them. I could have done the same thing but I chose to return my Jordan Ultra Platinum Medallion and Lebron Hardcourt Futures since their reputation was tarnished


Fortunately, I was able to return both the cards to the sellers for a full refund using the evidence presented by rogermaris and 31245@comc. I hope the buyers can use the evidence presented here (by 31245@comc, buybuymj and Abra) to return the card if they are planning to go that route unless they are convinced it is not altered.

I second this. I too reached out to 312 for advice prior to a purchase and found 312 very helpful in offering an opinion - nothing more - of the card. I took that opinion into account in making my decision, but thats it. As with PCP my offers to provide some sort of token of gratitude were declined. 312 doesn’t have to provide ANY opinion at all. 312 is a member of the community doing a lot of good work, and evaluating based on the evidence present. Tough to hold someone to a standard of excellence when reviewing pictures on line that the grading companies themselves - holding the physical card - can’t achieve.

This is a very good point

312 gets one wrong without being able to hold see any of the cards in person...the world implodes

PSA gets THOUSANDS wrong when they have the card in hand........no one has issue with it

If anyone else can do any better..step up to the plate

Just read up on the 25/99 LeBron after that other thread got bumped. usmc03vet and KhalDrogo made absolute fools out of themselves in here. At least that bozo usmc disappeared; Khal continues to dig himself deeper.

What a wild ride this thread was getting caught up. Good afternoon time spender.

Gotta admit, I somewhat agree with Khal in that we see Satchel Paige trimmed/buyer beware threads, but no thread was created in arguably the greatest trimmed card outed that we know of. An immediate drop of $300k in value in this is massive.

It has been brought to our
attention that BGS has reviewed this card in direct response to
speculation posted in this thread about the possibility of it having been
altered. BGS was made aware of all comments in this thread, and the card
was removed from the slab and reexamined by two Senior Graders. As the
attached letter will attest, BGS has again determined that the grades are
accurate, and that the card is unaltered. This card has been examined in
hand by BGS now on two separate occasions, and on both occasions it has
received an unaltered assessment. As a result of being contacted by an
attorney representing the card owner, we have locked the thread and
advise all to review their comments and guide themselves accordingly as it
relates to the LeBron James 2003-04 Upper Deck Exquisite Rookie Patch
Auto 25/99. Future posts regarding this card will be closely monitored by
counsel.
