Frayed nerves in here today. An abiding sense of touchiness, a felt need to respond to any perceived slight or presentation of a contrasting viewpoint in whack-a-mole fashion. I think some people are on edge for some reason!

Broke: Unifying the the United States while setting the Middle East on fire.

Woke: Setting the United States on fire while bringing peace to the Middle East.

These are absurd times.

So with all the wildfires out west and the loons blaming climate change for it why is Canada not having a issue with them this year? Instead of trying to blame everything on climate change how about they blame the real issue like not doing proper logging and cleaning of brush that fuels these fires every year.

That's BS. Kids pick their genders nowadays. Shame on those parents.

There used to be fire roads everywhere too, so when the fires do start they can get equipment in place quicker to try and keep them from becoming thses mega fires we have now. When I was in my teens and 20's (mid-late 90's) we used to go wheeling and exploring on fire roads in the hills all the time. Nowadays you can't even tell where lots of those roads were, cause they're so overgrown.

It’s not this versus that.
You bring up relevant points about improper forestry maintenance though. Some people act as though wildfires are some new and unexpected phenomenon all of a sudden, as if there aren’t multiple ways of addressing this issue.
I’d like to see some more native peoples’ involvement in forestry moving forward as well.

There were 10 transactions prior to that negative that indicated you understood the platform pretty well.

I'm 98% sure that defending Hitler is racist and wrong, but I'm learning to listen to and consider a diverse range of perspectives.

does canada have antifa organizations? Some of the fires on the west coast are started miles off the highway and man made by arsonists.

The Native people understood the need for controlled burns. No one listened. Enjoy your devastation, westerners!

Imagine an alternate universe where the BLM wasn’t burning cities and instead was fund-raising for the creation of a national non-profit agency that provided “minority community liaisons” to police stations across the nation. And such liaisons would partner with police departments to help them reform their image in conflict-riven communities and also provide real-time counseling to non-white individuals as they engaged with officers—either through FaceTime or drones with video screens.

I think a lot of Americans would support that.

Acid rain and ozone depletion are pretty clear examples of policy and emission standards helping to mitigate an environmental problem. These weren’t things that simply went away because society lost interest and started chasing the next shinny toy.

Acid rain still falls, though it's more localized over heavily polluted areas. It's just no longer a headline-worthy buzzword.

The rehabilitation of the ozone speaks to two things:

1. The effectiveness of international cooperation (and why you can't let developing and Communist nations play by a different set of standards)

2. The rapidity with which Nature tends to spring back. What was projected to take literally centuries to heal, recovered in less than two decades.

Hence, we have to hold everyone to the same environmental standards and we have to knock off the doomsday pronouncements of having "passed the point of no return."
