My grades finally popped on Friday. All seemed fair, some felt could have been a touch higher tho compared to past.

Does CGC not grade autographed cards?
I know they dont authenticate them if they are in person but my submission has quite a few that are in grading status that now say not eligible or something along those lines.
I figured they would still grade the card as it is and just not authenticate the signature.

You have a signed card that is not manufactured signed? They will kick those out if it is an in person signing. I wouldn't think you want it graded that way. Technically, wouldn't it be labeled as "authentic only" since it is marked. And that gets into the murky area where the "card" is authentic and maybe the auto is not and becomes misleading for selling.

Yes. Just wanted it graded And encapsulated. Same as if I sent in a card that had crayon from a next door neighbor scribbled on the back of it.
I guess I am not understanding why they can't just grade the card as they would any other card.
It's fine. I will just find another way to encapsulate them.

I would think if that was the case, they would grade the card poorly, because it was altered/damaged/written on, if that makes sense.

I'm just thinking along the lines as to what the surface grade of a card would be if there were random pen marks on the front

I know it doesn't mean much, but it is the first time it has happened to me. One of the cards on the CGC instagram was mine. It is the Darth Vader Wonder Bread in an 8. Kinda cool. HA!!

CGC doesn't like Purdy. Must be Cowboys fans. LOL. I had some Purdy's I submitted a few months ago and they took a beating also.

Its because its a die cut. They have graders who grade die cuts hard, and then I think some who arent as hard. That or they go in with its 9 ... look hard, to decide if can bump to 9.5 or go down. Or I'm crazy, but its hard with die cuts and thick cards with them.

I sent in a die cut that I thought looked great, 8.5 ... sent in the same card but different as it was a double and got a 9.5. Granted on this one I took the time to go aruond the edges and clean off the micro hairs etc with masking tape. Maybe that helped.

Cant recall, can you request Authentic grades with CGC yet? As opposed to a numerical grade?

I know they have the "Authentic Altered" grade.

But im speaking of Authentic similar to like choosing that with PSA

How long are people seeing for packages to enter the system?

I have a USPS package that was delivered per USPS last week, but isn't showing up in their system at all. Not even the USPS tracker. It's an express order too.

CGC's intake system is really lacking compared to PSA. PSA seems to only take 1-2 days now to get your package into the system.

mine took a week for economy from USPS tracking showing it was received to actually being put in as received

My only order I have placed with them, a few months ago, took about 10 days to be marked as received.

Ugh, really defeats the purpose of higher tiers if you're waiting days for them to open the package.

This was my 4th order with them and each time it was a good experience, I don't think they're getting enough credit. I will say I think they grade a little easier than most people are making it seem. Hopefully they can adjust their marketing (felt like a big push for the National and then nothing), get some focus groups together of non-customers to provide feedback on what it would take to acquire new customers & figure out how to tailor their social content to sports cards collectors. It's annoying seeing Pokemon cards all the time since the brand migration.
