Ballerina was meh.

⭐⭐1/2

Respect to Tom Cruise for banging that though, even if she's Ben Affleck's leftovers.

Alto Knights wasn't nearly as bad as it was made out to be.

I just think the mob troupe has run its course.

Afleck’s skin looked plastic-y.

I thought the Accountant 2 was ok. Really loved the first one so was dissapointed some. They made his character different than the first one, less robotic and more.smiles and normal. Just didn't seem like the same character to me. Less action.

You may be right on that last point. There are still a few interesting stories that haven’t been made into big movies yet- DeMeo, Scarpa, Tommy Karate, etc.
The bigger problem I think is that starting with the Godfather in 72? There have been some incredible mob movies in this generation, it’s really difficult being compared to Godfather, Goodfellas, Casino, Miller’s Crossing, Gotti(Asante, not Travolta) etc

As a mafia historian I’m curious to see Wahlberg as Greg”the Grim Reaper”Scarpa in some upcoming flick I read about. He was fascinating and sinister and treacherous. They’ll probably just glorify his role in the KKK hunt rather than highlight his lifelong skill of playing both sides as mafioso and informant.

I think the issue was more...when people think of "mob/mafia" film...they think action/violence/drugs so on etc..

Not sure many people were expecting a toned down, talk/dialogue driven biography

It wasn't bad, but definitely not what I expected

I'm taking little man to see How to Train your Dragon tomorrow. I've seen nothing but good things about it. I haven't seen the animated movies either so that is in my favor.

Cleaner on HBO is fairly solid. Echo Valley in apple TV is ok, but it could have been better.

Not that it matters since you haven't seen the original, but..

It's basically a scene by scene/word for word remake...as opposed to the Disney Lilo and Stitch LA

I thought it was secent-good...necessarily needed? Probably not..

But all the actors played it well enough, and Toothless was still cute

I know Tom Cruise is a bit of an odd guy, but I must say I have enjoyed the Mission Impossible movies. Saw a commercial for the latest one not too long ago and realized I had not seen ANY of them. Started going back thru and watching them and the guy makes a pretty good action flick. Except for the second one. That was a steaming pile. But the rest have been your straight up, non-believable, action flick.

If you are into physical media even just a little bit why haven’t you at least upgraded to Blu Ray? Players (not 4K) are like $40 now.

I watched 28 years later today. Most of the movie was pretty good. Not great. It's nowhere close to the original. The movie is 1 hour and 55 minutes. 1 hour and 40 minutes of it get a 7/10 for me. Not bad. The last 5 minutes of the movie 1/10. Do yourself a favor and leave a few minutes early. This was a master class on how to ruin a movie in a final scene.

I have a blu ray player - PS5. just never got into blu rays and like to collect dvd's. I picked up some older Jason statham's from the library sale - blitz, killer elite. I think it upscales the quality. Nosferatu looked pretty good. the bill skarsgard one. I do collect 4k's if I see them. I watched Mary Poppins returns and the video quality was really great.

Tried watching Minecraft on Max today and I just couldn't finish it. Perhaps it's just me getting old but it was ridiculously stupid. Should've known from the start because Jack Black was in it but I wanted to give it a chance.

I had the opposite take, first hour and 40 minutes was an 8/10 but that last five, 11/10. I’m so pumped for Bone Temple now. This might be my favorite movie of the year.

I mean...it's a movie about a "kids game"..marketed towards kids/teens..

I do give it respect for the cameo/acknowledgement of Technoblade

I was bummed when I saw that was the Max movie dropping this week. It was a hard pass for me.

I read that he pretty much ad-libbed his final words.
Definitely a sweet moment in an otherwise carnage-filled movie.
Just like in real life, everybody dies, and nobody comes back to talk about how great it was.

Wife wanted to see F1: The Movie in IMAX tonight. That is, until I saw that price per ticket is $30

Get bent, Regal Edwards Cinema.
