My daughter woke me up around 4am (UK time) for some milk right as the 15 minute notification for this popped up on my phone so ended up watching the last 5 mins live.

Regardless of how wealthy those serious bidders were, I still imagine hearts would have been pounding as the clock ticked down putting in those last snipes- bonkers. Well done on landing the green whale Nat.

For sure, my heart pounds for any high end auction I'm bidding on, I could just imagine a card of this magnitude how someone would be!! I like buy-it-now or private sales more, less stressful!!

Congrats Nat, I'm glad you won it, I wish you still lived here in Houston/Woodlands, so I could have at least enjoyed the card residing in my hometown

Glad to see the card go to a home where it is going to stay for a very long time. Now, if I recall, you need to find Mark Price PMG Green. lol. That card sticks out in my mind because I always think of the Egyptian background...

Best card ends up in the best collection. Perfect result.

Watching the monthly PWCC auction has become like watching an NBA playoff game. Last night was like watching the finals. It was fascinating to see the top 2 bidders compete back and forth down to the wire.

The entire high-end Jordan market is over-hyped and manipulated.

An investor group will win it because people are money hungry and only care about ROI.

Everyone who was bidding was shilling the auction.

The winner of the auction won't be paying for it, for sure.

Sample quotes some members had ready until they found out Nat Turner won it.

Nice, Nat. I know you've been hunting it for a while, very happy for you. Make sure to POST. THE. RAINBOW. when you get it in.

Now, all you have to do is find THE most important card...that final Masterpiece.

Well, people's criticisms of the modern high end hobby certainly seem valid to me.

Regardless, yeah people are going to be happy for Nat Turner. He's a genuine collector and I don't think anyone can say a single bad word about him.

Congrats to Nat. I did not see it going that high. Altered aside, it’s still a beautiful copy. Wonder when we see another and what it goes for.

Theres a few reasons why this is such a great outcome:

The card ended up in THE best basketball card collection.

The collection is just that, a true collection. The cards are being bought purely for the enjoyment and love of the hobby.

No one has any doubts that the card will be legitimately paid for. There's no conspiracy or bank check photos.

Its as straight forward a transaction as you could get, I don't think it could be going to a better home, congrats Nat!

So there we have it, 350K for an altered card to a 'high end' collector. Does this prove that high end collectors don't give a rat's arse about alterations to trophy pieces or is this more complicated than that? Does this type of sale demonstrate why Eric Bitz is still humming along knowingly selling altered cards? Money talks boy and high end stick together. I don't know any of these guys so I may be out of touch and do welcome criticism for my view but it is a point of observation. Plenty of ball washing but also an elephant in the room?

If it wasn't altered, it could have gone for more than 500K, so it does matter.

Wonder who the lucky seller was? Article mentioned it was an international collector.

Nobody knows that. The question is, what graded condition is valued the same as an altered copy? A 4? 5? 6? We won’t know until the next sale happens, because this sale far trumps any prior sale.

Big difference between an altered card that received an unwarranted numerical grade, and an altered card in an altered slab. Personally, I would never purchase either. I’m sure many here fall in that camp. The Jordan PMG green is rare enough that if you wanted it, you had to debate yourself whether you would be willing to wait 5-10-15 years before one came up again, or if you just go out and get it.

I would take a graded 4 or 5, or "authentic" slabbed all day over an altered copy. But you're right you may never get that chance again. Although with card prices where they are, I wonder if another may pop up for sale to cash in on this bull market. How many copies out of the 10 are actually accounted for at this point?

Congrats to the winner of the card but I’m sure he would enjoy it more if he could pay $250,000 less for it.

Manipulation still on.

Only 10 were made, who knows if and when you'll have another chance...And your next chance could then cost you $600K +..So it's a little different than lets say, an altered Lebron Exquisite RPA, etc. I could assure Nat would not buy an altered Lebron Exquiste RPA or something similar...The PMG Green Jordan is indeed an exception!!

I dont think there were ever any doubts on who was taking the Green PMG Jordan home.

i would personally rather have the "altered" in an "altered" slab....anyone who ever shows up with one of these is always going to be questioned as to the cards authenticity forever...

if one was to grade a BGS 6.5 or whatever the grade you want to pick....you would have endless posts claiming "i just dont believe that this is a legit copy"..."fakes sure are getting nice"...."BGS doesnt care that this is likely a fake"

over and over that would be the consensus...

at least with this one its more like "hey...its trimmed but we feel pretty good that its at least a legit 6/100 copy"

id rather own that then a number grade copy due to you would always be defending your card forever

Interestingly, the card was listed as "altered" by the Professional Sports Association, meaning that it was worn to some degree.
So PWCC has single handedly redefined what altered means.

Heh, yeah, they'll redefine it in any way that is convenient for them. If it helps their bottom line, they agree with PSA, if it doesn't help their bottom line, they disagree with PSA.
