Strictly my 2 cents, but I live in the Houston burbs. They are overpaying because it’s easy for stars to not want to stay or come here in the first place. It’s a drab city compared to other big markets. We’re diverse, but lack the cosmopolitan night life thanks to Texas conservatism. We’ve had stars get off the plane before and turn around lol I don’t think the Rockets will ever get over the GSW hump. I don’t like over paying mid 30s players either even though it’s a necessary evil of sports leagues.

Rockets have been trading away their good picks for years in trade for vets and are still banking on a pipe dream imho. I will say Harden sticking around is an anomaly. Maybe he thinks changing teams will make him a 2nd fiddle for which is a no-go.

This is the part I cannot get past.
$40 million a year to play basketball.

Things are getting insane.

So far the big winners of the offseason seem to be the Warriors.

With PG13 staying in OKC, Melo picking up his option and crippling OKC capwise, Ariza leaving the Rockets for Phoenix (although theoretically Phoenix could trade him back to HOU at the deadline), and LeBron declining his opt-in (making a trade to Houston impossible), no superteam is going to be able form in the West to challenge Golden State.

Thought this was a crazy stat. Through the 1st 12 hours of FA, the West had signed players with 27 All-Star appearances. The East signed players w 0 All-Star appearances. Yikes!

If the Wolves learn how to play defense (aka guarding the 3 point line like their life was on the line, They could contend in the West.

Damn that's crazy.

And here we are thinking LeBron will go West. It would make for great watching Bron vs all those West teams night after night. Plenty of marquee match ups. But he's staying East surely.

How many of the 16 signings for the West (out of 18 total so far) was a conference change? Or did people just stay put?

If LeBron is in Cleveland or Philly and they have 14 all star games with 3 guys vs 27 with 16 guys? Do people feel better?

What a lame stat out of context

It's the accountant in me. When I read that stat, the first things I questioned was how many of those ASG appearances had changed conferences.

Let's revisit the highlighted part in 6 months.

I have a feeling that Melo's expiring contract is going to be quite the trade chip come the deadline.

If Melo opts out, they essentially lose this ability to go over the cap.

can you explain the bolded statement to me? I'm not entirely familiar with how the cap works in the nba.

Marc J. Spears: Outside of the Magic, a source said another team to keep an eye on in regards to Magic RFA forward Aaron Gordon is the Los Angeles Lakers. Magic GM John Hammond has already told @TheUndefeated that the hope is to re-sign @UncleDrewFilm star long-term.

If Dallas do get DJ, that's an imprressive group.

I'm curious to see if Memphis will get back to the playoffs, last year they were decimated by injuries.

I think the answer is 0... someone can fact check me

16 West players have stayed West
2 East players have stayed East

If LeBron stays East? 14 all star games for 3 guys... 27 all star games for the 16 west guys...

Dumb

Really good deal.

Not too sure of the fit, though.
