What’s ironic is that I read that today on reddit and this thread was started as a TIL Blowout edition (as opposed to the normal reddit TIL).

I learned I can take opened packs and blasters back to Walmart and get money back, while at the same time cherry picking the best cards and replacing them with other ones.

TIL about congressional representative Felix Grundy McConnell from Alabama who in 1848 had spent most of his time in DC drunk, carrying his loaded pistol, and acting belligerent at various theater performances.

The best theory is that he started to go through withdrawal at some point, paid for a room over a bar, went upstairs and “butchered” himself with a pocketknife. Basically committed seppuku/harakiri with a 4-in blade. Throat and guts. Not a lot of information was reported and most historians think the withdrawal produced hallucinations causing the sudden suicide.

Is this a lockdown lesson in disguise?

TIL: When people refer to a particular Lego build as "illegal", they aren't making some kind of dumb meme—they are saying that some part of the design is putting stress on a block that could eventually damage or warp the block over time.

Today I learned my 11 year old daughter knows more about what’s happening in this world than most adults. She is strong with common sense.

Today I learned that after not swinging a golf club in over a year, I can still hit 1 perfect long drive in 18 holes. I tried to fly the green from the tee on a 315 yard par 4, but came up just short. Felt good to just let 1 fly.

I ordered "nachos" in St. Petersberg, Russia.

What I got was a plate of Pringles with Cheez-wiz on them and a little paprika.

Today I Learned that there are snails living deep in the Indian Ocean next to volcanic thermal vents that incorporate the floating iron particles directly into their skeletal structure.

And not just iron shells.

Even the snails' "foot" absorbs the sulfides and forms iron "scales" like a miniature snail dragon.
