Personally I don't think the pop will ever be even close to Acuna or Soto. Bulk will never be $8-$10 again. There will still be meat on the bone but not nearly as much with current/future grading prices.

Plus it's doubtful that he has THAT many currently in the grading backlog because he wasn't lighting the world on fire before PSA closed down.

I discovered these sets late and did not grab any, but they are definitely a nice Topps option. Patience is key and his continues hot play is key. If he hits 50 or more hr and have productive season over the next couple of years, his current prices will be the floor because as an international star, Asian market will keep his stuff high, time is likely on our side.

Sold off most of my Ohtani before the start of the year, SPs etc.
Never got around to selling the Rookie Debuts Pink, Gold & Rainbow. All is not lost!

TY... and I actually busted both. I too think I'm done buying, bought some raw to grade, and grading is just crap now... sigh

I haven't pulled my Ohtanis out since the beginning of the season. All pack pulled and instantly sleeved / top loaded. Nothing big really. I pulled 1US285 gold foil which I sold recently for 150 raw.

No clue what do with em other than.. nothing?

Turns out I have:
2 Optic Bronze Refractor 1 Batting, 1 Pitching
1 Optic Red / Yellow Refractor Pitching
1 #700 Topps Series 2
1 #150 Topps Chrome
1 83T-6 Topps Chrome 1983
2 83-2 Topps 1983
13 US1 Topps Update
2 #100 Allen and Ginter
2 #89 Gypsy Queen (Batting Image)
1 #HMW17 (Batting Image)
2 LITM-2
2 LITM-21 (1 Blue)
1 FS-5
1 IA-23 (Batting Image)
3 S-39 (Batting Image)
12 - US285 (Batting Image)

Are people buying SGC 10s? If I bought an SGC card it would be with the intention of cracking it and submitting to PSA. That's obviously not an option right now (unless we're talking a high dollar card) so are people buying to keep them in the SGC slabs?

Or is all the SGC talk coming from people looking to get their cards graded quickly and sell them. Because I think I'd rather wait and get full price than start taking SGC coupons.

I am holding mine for now. Great variety. I sold my BC for $225 recently raw and am happy. If only people liked SGC, but I am considering them if prices continue to go up.

Quick flipping is the SGC option I am considering. Just cannot sit and wait for 2022 to get here for bulk. I think that will be when they open for bulk. Other options are definitely in order.

Yeah that seems reasonable. There are probably more floating around that I've forgotten about.

I have his Montgomery club Marlboro rookie as well. Probably should dig that out.

I'm not looking to pay a premium for SGC 10s but if it's the same price as a raw card I'll take the 10 every time.

I love that card...I listed my PSA 10 for a "don't want to sell it" price but I'm thinking about taking it down because...well, I don't want to sell it.

SGC 10 selling in the $225 range with a $131 outlier. Rawls are trending toward $50 for the RD so there is profit to be made with SGC flipping.

That's a decent bump for an SGC 10.

I always say "collectors are going to collect," in the sense that if option 1 isn't affordable to them they'll move on to option 2. But it appears that goes for grading companies, as well.

Indeed. This might actually move the ROI on SGC, at least temporarily and Ohtani exclusive.

I've been pretty measured up to this point. For some reason, I'm starting to get wrapped up in Shohei fever. I just blinked and a bunch of money went flying out of my wallet.

Would love to see Ohtani get 100 extra base hits and 400 total bases this season. Last AL player to accomplish that was Albert Belle in 1995 and Jim Rice in 1978, respectively.

Crazy numbers:
Hits: 83
2B: 19
3B: 4
HR: 33

56/83 hits are XBH. 2 out of every 3 are for extras.

Here are his current "on pace for" numbers:

Hitting:
119 Runs, 61 HRs, 130 RBIs, 22 SBs, .275/.359/.691 1.050 OPS

Pitching:
124.2 INN, 7-1 Record, 162 KOs, 3.47 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, 11.69 K/9 (no one has a career K/9 this high and only two pitchers are over 11)

Picked up a 2018 Archives “hitting pose” variation RC for $125. Not sure what the consensus is on this card being that it’s from Archives but I love variations and cards with him batting to seem much more popular hence the Bowman Chrome RC.

I picked up one of these too and really like the image. Anyone know the print run?

Ok everyone…check the closing prices of the Topps Update Chrome PSA 10’s. I think people are beginning to speak to their preference. $200 express does not look bad now. Wow.

2018 Topps Chrome #150 - last auction $810

2018 Topps Chrome Update #HMT32 - last auction $860 today

I wouldn’t exactly say that the masses have made up their mind, that’s actually pretty even when it comes to auctions.
